Hi, folks. I have been diagnosed with furunculosis. It is located in my outer ear. I must go to an ENT specialist to deal with this, but I don’t know what kind of treatment I will get. Will I have an incision of the abscess? Is this really needed? I will appreciate all your advices.

Hi, there. You shouldn’t worry a lot. If the furuncles (boils) are smaller, no treatment is required. You can put on them compresses with hot water. You can do this for 30 minutes, 3-4 times a day. If the boils are larger, then a doctor should express the puse. He can do this with a needle and a syringe. Sometimes a small cut is needed. If the condition is more serious, then antibiotics are given to prevent further infection. I hope this will help ypou. Bye!
