I smoked my first joint on New Year's Eve 90-91 exactly at 12 midnight, it is now year 2014 and I have smoked every day since then.6 days ago I just grew tired of it and stopped cold turkey. I had no idea of the road that was ahead of me as I truly believed it would have no affect on the well being and boy was I wrong I am in such deep trouble from withdraws like hot and cold flashes, sudden burst of anger and major dizziness and light headed it has not affected my sleeping only cuz I went to the doctor to get apo-zopiclone sleeping pills....and he also gave me lorazepam and without these pills I would not be able to function at work or anywhere else for that matter.marijuana withdraw is a very real thing not to be played with

Wow that's the same thing that happens to me man I wake up almost exactly every day at 3 from my vivid dreams. Hang in there its always soothing and comforting to hear from other people that go through the same thing. Gives hope to everyone and lets them know that they aren't alone in this temporary hell Thnkks...

After a month your appetite should restore and many of the physiological issues will subside.

What anyone who is suffering from any withdrawel, or anxiety as a result of withdrawel has to remember is, it will get better. The experiences you are having will improve and you will begin to feel clearer and more in control as you go on.

Some days will feel worse than others, almost for no apparent reason that you can think of.

I have been experiencing acute panic attacks due to long term stress during my life that seems to have come to a head. The feelings and sensations are very real, but when they end, especially in respect of anxiety, you will realise that none of them are life threatrening and you will feel a bit silly, despite the fact that at the time, it feels VERY real. Any substance, be it marijuana, alchohol or caffeine aamong others, has an effect on your mental and physical state when you cease to use it, fact.

Thankfully marijuana is the least physically harmful of the ones i mention above, aside from the actual smoking, which we all know IS bad for you, especially if you use tobacco with resin.

I have smoked since I was about 18yrs old, I am now nearly 42. I smoked between 10-20 large joints a day, sometimes more, whether I was at work or not. This was mostly strong resin or weed and occsionally oil, or both, mixed.

I experienced some anxiety due to stress when i was about 30, but I recovered fine. I always enjoyed a smoke, but have been feeling that it is way more habitual for me lately than it is relaxing, which is the reason i began in the first place.

My recent anxiety came quite suddenly and I realised fairly quickly that it was due to underlying stress, unemployment, serious debt, followed by death and illness in my immediate family.

What you have to realise is, like with anything recreational, if you are not in the right mindset, you should avoid substances that open you up to suggestion in the way cannabis does. Although It clearly has many, many benefits and is quite clearly less harmful that most of the c**p drug companies 'push' with the help of health services.

It does have 'real' withdrawel effects and these will varty from person to person, largely dependant on their mental state and reason for quitting.

All you need to remember is

IT WILL GET BETTER

But remember, if you are concerned, dont hesitate to see a Doctor about the way your feeling, just in case you have underlying issues.

I found that just speaking to someone about it, gave me some relief and is definitely reassuring.

I will say though, if I can deal with my stress issues and again feel mentally stable, I would definitely use marijuana again. In all the years, I felt it really helped me in many ways. AND i enjoyed it. The only thing that makes me want to stop is the effect habitual smoking has on my life, as I always preferred smoking a joint to eating a brownie.

But thats just personal preference.

Think Positive (as corny and 'self-help bookish' that sounds) and dont forget to exercise, you wont beleive how good even moderate exercise is for these withdrawels etc.

A very good post imho - key things to keep with you would be things like moderation and the fact that we do not know enough about our own brain chemistry to know exactly what's going on. Intelligence tells us to just leave it alone. THC , just like alcohol , should be used in serious moderation to avoid issues like withdrawal among the dozens of problems using ( any drug .... legal or not ) marijuana may cause. I've used , plenty.
The information above I believe is quite accurate and I wanted to add a few comments that may help. Water , and lots of it will be key. Beta blocker helps with anxiety which can be easier to get than benzos. Exercise is something many smokers just won't do lol so get out and walk the mall or something for the boredom and don't think of it as expertise. The best way to avoid withdrawals however is always moderation. Good luck -
