You and your husband seem very illogical from the get go, maybe that's the issue. Some people have an actual medical reason to treat their symptoms with cannabis. Stop being stupid people, and don't be an idiotic hypocrite. With that aside, grow up and be an adult. Truth hurts huh(stooping to your intelligence level)?!!!

This is an old post but it has a lot of great, honest, replies so I thought I'd add mine.

I've been smoking pot quite chronically for most of the years between 15-32. I've quit for up to 12 months once or twice...but usually I get really stressed out and then see a lot of people smoking weed on TV and stuff and then an old friend comes by and offers it and I stupidly say yes and get hooked again.

Withdrawal symptoms are real. I'm actually quitting against after smoking about a quarter a week for a couple months again and my withdrawals are tough. Loss of appetite, raised anxiety, difficulty getting to sleep, and a strong urge to go get some weed and smoke it. I actually bought a bong and to quit I took it and threw it in the trash. Some people would say that is a waste of a good bong, but I really need to quit.

As I recall, the worst symptoms of withdrawal usually last a couple of weeks even if you only smoke a little bit. I think this has to do with THC being fat soluble and after you quit it slowly leaks out of your fat cells and back into your blood stream so your body keeps adjusting to it and wants more to balance itself back out to what it was expecting.

Long term, you will always find yourself jonsing for weed now and again...especially if you are around people who smoke often...but it's not the same as the first couple of weeks which has a lot of physical symptoms and not just the psychological ones.

Smoking pot releases dopamine and you get addicted to that 'good feeling'. I think this is pretty similar to most other addictions. Yes, there is a chemical component to it too but I think that reward/good feeling is the root cause of the phenomenon of addiction and that's why you can be addicted to things like gambling...and people lose their homes to that addiction to even though Marijuana doesn't have the kind of chemical addiction that cocaine, heroine or meth does...it's still not good.

Take a few days off work. Order your favourite meals and eat what you can. Change your environment (it's a good time to move). Heck, change your friends while you are at it. And then try to remember how much trouble this was so the next time you consider smoking again you realize the costs.

I am a 23 year old male who has been smoking about a gram a day for the last 6 years of my life. During the 6 years I had probably only missed 4 days all spread out. This is day 3 of quitng cold turkey and I have gotten only 1 hour of sleep in total. My body is physically tired but when it comes to sleeping my mind cannot go to sleep. The worst part of this quitting has to be the sleep part of the withdrawals. Another think I had noticed is it is almost impossible for me to eat. I feel very very hungry but when I go to eat it feel like I'm just going to throw up right when the food gets in my mouth. I have truly wished I had not tried smoked when I was 16. The 6 years of smoking everyday gets to you I got to the point nothing in life made me happy at all and I always had to smoke before anything and everything. I also had to smoke right when I woke up and when I went to bed. I WAS ALWAYS SMOKING. Another thing that pot stole from me was my college education. I did not care about school when I was high. I thought eh just do it later then when it came to later I would just not do my work. I would just get high and very high I tell you before I went to my exams and before I got my grades back. Because then I got my grades back and they were sh*t I did not care because you guessed it. The weed. Weed might not have any physical damaging properties as other drugs but it can ruin your life. I hope someone who was thinking about hitting the Blunt or joint reads this and chooses not to. I wish I had.

Eat dry things like toast, don't lay down straight after you've eaten. lay on your left hand side should stop you from feeling sick and help you keep what you have in your stomach.

I too quit after regular use- but combat the withdraws with exercise! I run- and I live in NYC and walk all the time- I've had no problems sleeping. That's the key- to get natural endorphins your brain is use to getting from thc- and to physically exhaust yourself.
Good luck everyone!! :) peace and love

I personally. Had given my life to Jesus 2 years ago. In the middle of a two grand a month cocaine addiction for 20 years along with constant weed use ask the lord to take the coke use and need away. And he did just that. Over night gone. That was two years ago .. I finally just asked the same for weed. And that's gone to it's like I never had used at all I give all credit to my faith. In Jesus. Ask him into your life. .and hold on its gonna be an awesome. Ride. ...God bless .....

Wow Lucky u. I've been smoking for a couple of years and I just quite cold turkey. I'm on my 4th day. The severe symptoms I've been getting is so outrageous it's ridiculous. I'm so light headed all day since I quite and also dizzy spells. I still can't eat during the day. I have no appetite. I eat at like 10:30 and not much. I just started taking antioxidants like cranberry juice and polygrante juice. This morning I was so dehydrated and of course I slept for about 3 hours before I woke up in total agony. I'm reading all ur statements and I'm like dam u guys are so lucky.. This morning my throat was so dry, but the more water I drank it still didn't feel like it was happening. So in hopes I don't have another morning like this morning, I went jogging to Sweat out the Thc. I do feel better now. So tonight I will also go jogging and probably the rest of the week as well. The best way to get this c**p out of ur system is to Sweat and drink a butt load of Water. With the last 4 days as been absolute Hell. I felt like dying literally. Hopefully there are better days ahead. Just keep sweating and drinking a sh*t load of water and antioxidants. Good luck all.

I have been smoking daily for over 3 years now. Over the last year, I've started getting in to the high end weed and mixing and matching. I only smoked at night, but it was to the point where I was smoking 1-2 bowls of the good stuff and then heading to bed within a half hour or so.

I am on day number 8 of quitting cold turkey. The first night I didn't have any trouble sleeping because of how exhausted I was. But the anxiety and dizziness really kicked in after that. I had a stressful meeting yesterday and by the end of it I couldn't wait to get out of there. I felt like I couldn't breathe and probably shouldn't have driven myself home.

The anxiety and dizziness is the worst part. I've also been experiencing depression, mood swings, and an increased sitting heart rate. I keep coming to these forums to read almost the exact same things from others.

Best of luck to everybody!
