My friend recently quit drinking and has been experiencing some pretty heavy withdrawal symptoms. He's been a very heavy drinker since he was 12 years old. He's 19 now.
I was googling to see how long symptoms usually last and saw it varies from person to person by how severe their drinking was. What's typical for this type of dependancy?
I'm extremely grateful to any answers, comments, whatever you have.

well it might take atleast a week or 2 for withdrawl to be over but what you really need to worry about is if he's gonna relapse. he's gonna feel like sh*t but he gonna needs support in order to kick that addiction. he might need to go to aa and talk about it and have his family and friends to keep on the right track.
after a few months he might feel like he's under control like he doesnt need aa or any support like that, and one day he might go out with the fellas and have a good time, and then sees the bar, and the says " oh one drink wont hurt" and 20 mins later he's passed out on the floor soiled on himself. so he's gonna need some 'tough love'. even when he wants to give up you guys cnt let him. im telling you it wnt be a walk in the park for the next few months he might get cranky, sad... you know things like that but u got to show him drinking excessively only destrorys things not cause happiness. you could act like his big bro or something and keep him on the right path. like a brother would, look out for the brother.
so thats i got to say i hope this helps and like i said it might be 1 or 2 weeks maybe even more.
bye bye
