I'm assuming that you are an adult, and for adults, you'll want protein to make up anywhere from 10 to 35 percent of your daily calories. For women, that's about 46 grams every day; for men, is about 56 grams. 

The thing to keep in mind is that it's fairly easy to get your needed protein. If you're a meat eater, for example, a small 3-ounce piece of meat can have roughly 21 grams of protein. Three ounces will fit in the palm of your hand, so if you have two servings of meat, you'll have nearly all the protein you need at a single meal. Don't forget many of your foods are also fortified, so your breads and cereals may also contain protein.
