Hello, I am 51 years old and I am having knee problems for three years now, ever since I had a car accident. There was only slight pain in the beginning, but now I have to deal with osteoarthritis and the doctors say that osteotomy should be performed. How can that procedure help me with my condition?

In the condition you suffer from, the cartilage in the knee joint is damaged, sometimes completely destroyed and that means that ends of the bones included in the joint might be damaged also. So, osteotomy prevents the further damage of those bones parts and thus alleviates the pain. This procedure really should help you a lot.
