Ellen, it's clear you were suffering from bipolar disorder type III and you're delusional. You need to resume medication therapy. You have no business advising people about mental health and your experience is indicative of that. I've been a nurse for several years now and it's obvious you're unbalanced. Good luck to you, you'll need it.

Please don't take diet pills. I am 77 years old and have been on Paxil for 12 years. I lost my son then. I am now weaning off I have gained 30 lbs since starting Paxil. I have to loose weight because I am a diabetic. I am on my 3rd week of weaning off and have had no significant effects.
I really want to loose weight because I was never a large person and am uncomfortable. I may be 77 but other than diabetes I am ok. I want to remain ok and live the rest of my life feeling comfortable and well. The weight won't come off fast, but at least I won't be taking that horrible drug. Good luck to you and hang in there.

Paxil is killing my appetite, and I am losing weight. It also takes the troubles away, that was causing me to over eat in the first place. I hope I can get rid of the anxiety for good and then get off of Paxil. I do not plan to ever increase the amount that I take and I am taking the lowest mg. It could be that people are taking Paxil for different reasons. In my case it is working and helping me over come some of my problems.

I have been taking paxil on and off since 2010. I have always lost weight when taking it and have actually asked to be back on it for that specific purpose. It also gives me more energy. Most people can't tolerate the other side effects but I do very well. You will have to put effort into feeling emotions and to feel emotionally attached to others but that's just part of it. Yes, most people will gain weight and not being able to climax is a big issue but it can be overcome. The mind is a powerful thing and taking your time is key.

i have been on paxil for 4 years and have gained around 40 pounds. although im considering having my doctor safely weaning me off, in the mean time, how can I lose weight while im still on paxil? I just bought the vitamin e, omega 3 and the whey protein powder ( as I read that I should consume 6 shakes a day (1 every 2 hours) for 2 weeks in substitution for food. will I still lose weight doing all of this and still taking paxil?

I've fasted for nearly 100 days over the past few years, went vegan, rode a bike 40-50 miles daily and still have the god damn belly. I quit Paxil 8 years ago. Don't ever listen to these fools who say you can't leave Paxil. When you decide you want to believe in yourself you will be able to do it. I have no advice about your belly though

Please contact me ASAP, as I have had a recent brain MRI with exactly the same findings after taking Paxil for about the same time; I have exactly the same emotional and relational issues.

It's been over a year since you wrote this. Are you still off of paxil and how are you? Have you lost weight? I'm 43 and have been on paxil since I was 25. I was always thin and slowly started gaining weight after a couple of years on it and now I stay 50-70 lbs over weight. I eat so very healthy and workout and nothing helps me lose weight except starving myself for long periods, but you can't live like that for long so the weight comes right back!

I'm about to go on Paxil and I'm afraid of weight gain. I was on Lexapro but it didn't really help me with depression but I gained 10 pd so I weaned off of it and lost the weight again. What you wrote scared me. How are you doing now?

I took Paxil for less than 3 months and gained 25 pounds. I had just gone thru a weight management program and had lost 30 pounds. I've continued to eat the same program that I lost weight on prior to Paxil and it won't come off. That drug should be removed from the market. I had horrible side effects with it and the lasted for months after I stopped the drug.
