So I am turning 20 years old and I have never had a period. There was one time in high school that for one day I did bleed, but that was once and only for a day so I am not sure if it could be considered a period. I have never been to see a doctor about it because I am a very shy person and that is one part of my body I just don't feel comfortable with people examining. I did develope normally otherwise, (i.e grow hair and breasts) I am also not underweight at all, and I have never been. In fact I am actually overweight which should not cause this. I know I am probably going to get a ton of "go see the doctor" 's like I said earlier i just cant deal with someone examining down there. So I was wondering if anyone here had any advice as to what this could be? If it may be permanent or what not?

Well yes, the first advice you are bound to get is to see a doctor, because this is too serious. But, even though you might imagine that gynos don't do nothing else but poke someone's "down there", you probably will need first a set of blood tests to determine levels of your hormones and also, there is the ultrasound of labdominal area to see what is going on with your ovaries (because even if they wanted to, doctors just could not reach ovaries otherwise). And your ovaries are responsible for both ovulation and for triggering hormonal changes that lead to your period. So, you are scaring yourself before you even tried to see what is going on.
