I have a string of tissue that is at the opening of one side of my vagina and it sometimes tampons get caught on it and it hurts if I accidentely pull at it when this happens. I this part of my hymen? Is this normal? Ty

Wow I was just going to post something about this myself.
When I started my period when I was 13 I had that do. I just had to learn to take out the tampon in my own way. My family didn't have insurance and couldn't afford to take me to the doctor and my mom was sure that this just meant I was a virgin. When I lost my virginity it ripped and was dangling. It was horrible when I got married because my husband only wanted to ask questions and I felt so embarrassed. I got pregnant and my doctor said when I went into labor they could remove it after the baby can out. It is gone now but I am still embarrassed because I feel like I don't look like everyone else.
I don't know what it is and my doctor just said it was extra tissue. I thought maybe there was somebody else out there who would know. I don't really have an answer but you aren't the only one if that makes it better...
