Hello,
I am 15 and was diagnosed with epilepsy. I am very confused with all this... I got some meds to take, literature to read. Doctor says this shall have a big influence on my life and I should take some important steps already.
I am very scared what will happen in future.

Hello,
I would like to tell you that epilepsy affects more than 2, 5 million Americans and more than 180,000 people are diagnosed with epilepsy every year. As you see you are not the only one and there are millions of people with similar problem as yours.
Doctor is right... epilepsy importantly affects people’s lives and people have to make important adjustments. For example, probably sooner or later (since you are in that stage of life) you’ll want to go to a party and there people will give you alcohol and will even expect you shall drink with them. You will have to say no to alcohol and drugs- no experiments. Every experiment you shall make will cause new seizure and maybe even overdose with drugs (since if toxins taken, they can delete the rations of medicine).
This is just one of examples I made to illustrate what kind of adjustment is needed...
I also want to tell you that most people than get epilepsy, improve it later, in their twenties and do not have to be on meds no more. They have no seizures etc.
My point is, even though it may seem confused at the moment, you will get used to it eventually, you’ll have to...and it is not the end of the world. It would be wise for you to find a support group, if there is one on your city, if not, or if you would rather stay anonymous, find a support group on web. This is my advice and I hope it was helpful.
Regards!
