Most people who are on suboxone are usually on it for longer than 3 months so for you to say that the withdrawal from that is nothing compared to opiates does nothing more than make you sound ignorant. Be on suboxone for a year and tell me how easy the withdrawal symptoms then are. Also, ever heard of PAWS? By your post, I would say no. It is Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome. Lasts for weeks and even months after quitting suboxone and it is absolutely the worst thing I have ever gone through in my entire life, and I have been through some pretty horrible stuff. I understand that was your experience with quitting suboxone, but for some unsuspecting person reading your post, I dont want them to think it is going to be that easy for them unless they do not take the suboxone for very long at all, which I believe is the key to all of it. Next time, you just might want to be careful with how you word things and be sure to let people know that was your experience with it b/c I an assure you, most are not that lucky when they quit suboxone.

Was just wondering how you are doing, as this was posted 2 months ago? Are you still clean? If so, are you using suboxone or did you go cold turkey?

I need help/support!..... my name is mike and I am currently taking subs I recently for first time in my life went through dope sickness. I have been taking pills for years after cocaine got old I figured whats wrong with taking a few pills dr. prescribe them so didn't look at it as drug abuse..... however to my point I read your post and my eye welled up. I am a convicted felon all because of drugs. I was convicted 7 years ago and I have been going through hell ever since. and just when nothing could go right for me or so I thought I got a chance to get this great job making 25,000+ a year and I don't want to ruin it and I know I will if I am still doing pills. so i decided to try the subs and ive been doing good for two weeks i started taking a third of one a day and now down to a small piece but scared that if i stop i gonna get sick and this might be my last chance at a great job being that i am a felon could use any support......

Sorry to hear about what's going on. I've had a prescription for suboxone for four years, have been tested multiple times including once for an employee last week and have NEVER failed for opiates. Even at my doctors, where they send my results into the lab (I get my results mailed to me), I have NEVER tested POS for opiates. Opiates for a chronic user can show up POS on a drug test for a hell of a lot longer than 3-9 days and with methadone, FORGET IT! You could be waiting months!!! If it's just bupe, you're ALL set unless they test for it. If you have a prescription, you should be fine too.

Are the posters who are worried about suboxone showing up on a urinalysis taking it with a prescription? If you are prescribed suboxone for pain or for opiate addiction, any reasonable employer shouldn't be able to use that information to not hire you, or to fire you. I have taken a hair follicle test and several urine drug tests while being on a legitimate suboxone therapy program for opiate addiction. None of the tests showed positive for any substance, including suboxone. But my addiction doctor who prescribes my suboxone was willing and ready to inform any employer about my success in the program if the need arose. I know there are some job positions that require the candidate to be completely drug-free, such as doctors, pilots or CIA operatives (lol); but for regular Joe's applying for retail or office jobs, being successful in recovery is usually looked upon favorably. I am sure there are those who will disagree with some of what I've said, but in my life experiences (I am 51 yrs old), being upfront about being in recovery has been easier than trying to keep it a secret. That's just my 2 cents worth, hope it helps.

No, you won't fail for opiates because it's NOT an opiate! The disinformation people spread on here is sickening. SUBOXONE doesn't show up until a 15 panel test..

It doesn't show up on any standard test.. it had to be specifically tested for.
