You can get something called a pusedo obstruction and that can cause you to vomit what should be coming out of the other end!
It is common in those with Gastroparesis and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
I have really bad gastrointestinal issues at the moment and I vomited a lot last night with some sign of "poo" being mixed in there! (nice ay!)
Pusedo obstructions cause just as much pain, just as much vomiting and can lead to people having to be fed via a feeding tube or even in servere cases TPN (Total parental nutrition) but it isn't as dangerous as a bowel obstruction or twisted bowel etc... Often people will go to A&E though due to how intesnse the pain is and to get IV's to stop them being sick and dehydratin

The post you are referring to is 5 years old! And, what she said is very possible. "Bugs" cause fecal emesis ALL the time. That means poop pukes for you laypeople. H.pylori & giardiasis being the main two. But, simple stomach flu's can cause it as well.

Count me in the group that have experienced vomiting feces.....different texture than a stool, but same color and an odor I recognize when I have a normal bowel movement. I've been diagnosed with Ileitis/moderate Crohn's disease. It took 12 hours of serious pain (3 a.m. to 3:pm) of vomiting and finally having a massive bowel movement. Weight went from 214 to 209 lbs. in these 12 hours.

I have a 5 year old that vomited early in the morning and I too think it was feces because of the smell color and texture. You are so right I was horrified and shocked but she had no idea.

As a trauma/emergency physician I can tell you right now, with 100% certainty, that neither you nor your daughter vomited fecal matter as the result of a "bug". You must be either severely constipated for weeks or have an obstruction to vomit fecal matter. There is absolutely no way that the strength of contractions necessary to vomit fecal matter happens without a blockage of some sort. And if you are a nurse then you should know that anyone that is even suspected of vomiting fecal matter should go to the ER immediately as they most likely do have a blockage. Saying that "a bowel obstruction wasn't likely" when you actually believe your 7 year old daughter vomited fecal matter and you're a nurse does not make any sense to me and does not add up at all.
Your daughter did not vomit feces at all, not unless after posting this she got so violently ill or in such horrible abdominal pain that you had to rush her to the ER. You don't vomit feces from a virus or "bug". She most likely vomited a very thick, dark bile that did not resemble typical bile, it can look and actually smell a bit like feces.
To anyone that suspects they or someone else has vomited feces, please get yourself or that person to an ER immediately as it is a sign of an intestinal blockage or severe constipation, either that may eventually result in sepsis and death.

I'm feeling the same can take me about 10 hours to clear it I feel so ill it's unreal the last time it happend it lioked like a bog colour green my brown been referred to a Gastroenterologist the sooner the better x
