I use an implanon implant but im bleeding during sex with my partner, is this a normal side-effect?

I had the implanon implant inserted 9months ago, it was completely fine. Had a normal week period and then didnt bleed for months. Until i got my period on the week of the 4th april, my period didnt stop until monday just passed. (a month later). The bleeding wasn't heavy, just light and annoying. Although the bleeding has stopped (i havent bled for 3 days now) i still bleed during sex. Is this normal? Im planning on making an appointment with the doctor just to be sure.

Irregular bleeding can be a problem with Implanon, so this is probably the cause of your symptoms. It would certainly be best to get your doctor to check that there's no other reason, but I don't think you are going to need to lose any sleep over this one.

You should definately get this checked out. Excessive bleeding on the implanon may be from an STD like chlamydia; a non fatal but scarring infection you need treatment for. The bleeding is from irritation. It is treatable with one dose of x2 tablets so don't worry.

I got the implanon around the same time you did. ive been bleeding for months and even when having sex and yes its alot. I went to the doctor to see if its was normal and ofcourse like dumb doctors always say .. it was normal even dou i dont feel like its normal im thinking of removing it .It is really annoying bleeding everyday of your life.

Hey, ive had the implant for 10 months now and basically from when i got it put in i had bleeding everyday for about 6/7 months, after 4 months i went to my doctor and she gave me the birth control pill which evened out my period and after taking that for a month my period stopped completely i now get no periods at all, except i get slight bleeding occasionally - this was my experience. I was so close to getting the implant taking out as it was such an annoyance and i feel your pain but now honestly im glad i stuck it out because it means 1. i get very rare periods and very light and 2. i dont have to worry about birth control

I have a similar issue of my period will end after a couple days of random spotting and then when we're like ok good to go we have sex no problem but then the next day i bleed a lot but it tapers off quick and then its light and lasts a ay or two. no pain or anything no cramping but still really annoying :/ I've had implant for just under a year now

I've had implant in for a year now and have bled all the way threw stopped for about 4 days a month but bleed even heavier after sex docs said it fine even after numerous of tests an smears all saying clear I think there is something still wrong .... I had one in 5 years ago after my eldest was born an had it in the whole 3 years and did not have one bit of problems with it so to me its not normal any suggestions what to do now would be gud thanks

I will be having sex and everything is fine but the next day i will start my period so i wait to have sex till i am off but then the next time i had sex the same thing keeps happing and it last a week each time heavy even and i have had my implant for almost 2 years. whats this mean?

I only got mine about two months ago and ever since, I've been terribly moody and upset, constant stomach cramping and have started bleeding very lightly now For the past few days. sfter my partner and I had sex it would start as we'll, I definitely feel your pain, it's very frustrating.

This is the same for me. I had the implanon put in 2 months ago, and have bled right through up until a week ago. It was all clear for 3 days then o had sex and hello -bloody mess-. We used a condom in case which was lucky. But reading this I'm now curious to know is it ever gonna end? My doctor told me having the pill would be a bad idea (as she knows the girls in my family and uterus' don't go well) Sex was embarrassing when that happened and I refuse to do it again until I know for sure.

I have a been on nexplanon for 3 months now and have heavy bleeding for about two and a half months. I always bleed during sex even if I stop for a day and it hurts during sex when its sore. This is bad right?

I've been on this contraception since August of 2014, im about to hit a year using it and as of June 2015 towards the ending of the month, I'd say about the last week I started bleeding for 9 days then I stopped for three days. After I had sex with my boyfriend immediately I started bleeding, the next morning I continued into that day. It started off light then got heavy and I just thought it was nothing big. But for some reason my period comes and goes and I never know. Sometimes it's here for three days and the rest of the week I'm fine and then it comes out of no where and it's frustrating because it ruins my clothes and idk why but I would never feel it!!! Usually I know, but not this time. I love the fact that I don't have to take pills or any of that but this constant bleeding is annoying! I'm considering taking it out but I'm going to see what my doctors say. I've gained a little weight and my acne is crazy. I do get headaches and crazy mood swings. Idk, may go back to the nueva ring.
