I'm 16 and I've always had UTIs, even as a young child. I used to get like 1-3 a year when I was younger and then they calmed down for a few years, but the past year has been ridiculous! I had a considerably normal one and then a few months after it cleared up I became sexually active, I'd often start to feel one come on and just spend an hour in the bathroom drinking litres of water to flush it out. However once I had a really had one that lasted 5 days and there was quite a lot of blood every time I peed. I made an appointment at the doctors and then cancelled because I couldnt face the hour wait in the waiting room with this uncomfortable infection, so I left it untreated except for cystocalm (I go through like a full box of these every month). I missed so much college that week and I'd often skip lessons to go and sit in the bathroom with a bottle of water in my hand crying wishing for them to go away. Overall I've had about 7 in the past 12 months and only 1 has been treated by a doctor because I honestly don't see the point anymore, by the time the antibiotics kick in it would have cleared up by itself. I'm just scared that if I keep leaving them untreated it'll eventually harm my kidneys and I could really do with a way to prevent them?
