I was diagnosed with ET 10 yrs ago while in the military. At the time they told me that my DNA tests showed that I wasn't born with it. It was diagnosed soon after returning from the Persian Gulf. Recently, while in the ER for unrelated reasons, they did a blood test and ultrasound. They informed me that my platelet count was around 2 million and my spleen was enlarged. Both unrelated to why I was there. I haven't seen a doc for my disorder siince leaving the military 10 yrs ago. I've always have gotton the ischemic pains and bruising. Is it important to receive periodic checks with a physician? Thanks Paul
