First of all, I would like to mention that I have had NO previous gastrointestinal problems and I am 18. Bear with me because I am going to give as much information as I can in order to get a more accurate answer, meaning it aint all pretty or appropriate. As you might guess, I am extremely worried as to what is going on. It all started one morning at my thrid shift job (a gas station). I had gone to the bathroom to make a BM and about 10-20 minutes after I came back it just suddenly started. For Almost the last 3 weeks now I have been suffering from this alleged constipation. That is, I feel like I have to make a bowel movement ALL the time. Make no mistake, I still go more than 3 times weekly, but it is usually a small amount each time and somewhat diffucult to get out when it does come out. Furthermore, defecation provides little to no releif. On top of that there is always an extremely annoying discomfort in the rectal cavity, even after I get releif from it (I was checked for tumors-nothing)--The only time I get any releif from it is after intensive physical activity (especially sex) or If I can get extremely relaxed. Even then the releif doesnt last more than an hour or two at best. The only other thing I occasionally experience is some nausea and bloating in the morning, but it goes away after I eat. As for cause, I have eliminated the possibility of diet-- however, recent changes in my life may be causing it through stress (I was in a car accident about a month ago, and nearly 3 weeks ago I got in a new relationship, that of which there hasn't been 1 day I havent been with her). I am currently on Antibiotics for a supposed prostate infection, as well as taking pain medication (Aleve). I have been doing this for 3 days now And I havent gotten any releif from it. Thats about it. I would be extremely grateful if you guys could provide some insight as to what this is. Thank you in advance.

I know I'm gonna sound like a commercial, BUT my son has been constipated practically all his life. And doing all the normal recommendations for relief of this, for example, drinking more fluids, exercise, bran, flaxseed, more veggies...fibre,fibre and more fibre, nothing helped long term anyway. Other things tried:laxatives, suppositories, more magnesium, more vitamin C etc etc didn't help much either. You know what really helped.....oxypowder....don't know the entire history behind it...but think it's a relatively new product on the market. You take approx 7 capsules the first night; second night if there's no BM up the capsules by 2; continue until you've had a good BM- this is done for 7 nights(a cleanse). Continue every other night(as a maintenance dose). You might want to try going to a lower dose.
Check it out on their website, read the testimonials and see if you want to try it. It worked for my boy.
And by the way, both working third shift and antibiotics can be very constipating and very difficult for the body to adjust to. :-)

Ok this has gone on long enough and I am now suspecting a more serious problem. However, more recently, on April the 3rd through the 5th, I felt almost completely fine. Then, on midday of the 6th, it started back up again. This is REALLY starting to worry me and my doctor is stumped.

Hi im having the same type of problem. Ive gone to see doctors and they've done tests for me, but i keep getting the same answer. Change your diet eat more fiber, drink more water. Ive done all that and i still am, but my BM are still unpredictable even after a BM in the morning i feel as if it's incomplete and i have a distinctive smell that comes from my anus. Is there any other way to help this.

gwest, I have incomplete bowelmovements as well as a distinct odor from anus. Ive gone to the doctor and had a scope up the butt, with nothing found. They told me to take fiber but that just made my stool softer but didn't help at all. Currently I started taking zinc(which is supposed to get rid of odor) I'll let you know if it helps. As for the incomplete bowel movements im gonna go back to the gastreologist doctor and hopefully find a medication or solution, I will post if i find anything out.

PS just wondering if you drink alcohol or take an anti-anxiety medicine like xanax, which i take. just wondering cause i do.

good luck

I'm a 61 year old female looking for answers myself, which is how I stumbled on your posts (everybody) I've done everything correct myself, within my power to battle constipation which started about 10 years ago. Previously no problems. Of course because I'm a woman the 1st thing they all say is oh, well menopause does that to you. They blamed everything on that, sweating attacks, bloating, etc. etc. etc.
Well I stumbled on a site and you can read this woman's story at this link I provided, and do further research on a condition called Food Dependent Cushing's Disease. Look into that, it could be your adrenal gland.
