Is Methadose anything like methadone?

Sorry but that is a Bad analogy , reason is this, ZANAX, AND COLODIPANE, ALONG WITH VALUM ARE ALL Benzo's but the feeling you get from Xanax is more in your head, and actually makes you fall asleep easier, K-PINS are more of a BODY BUZZ, both are for anxiety or insomnia but feel way different, and generic forms also feel different, this is not just something I feel but every person I know says the same thing.

I have also just started going to methadone clinic , I have taken actual methadone for a few years in large amounts, the clinic gives me the Pink methadose and it most definitely is not as strong, I have been on opiates since I was 7 Because of a Bone disease, all opiates are similar but each is different in some way.

I have been on Methadose/Methadone for over 10 years & I have had both of the 40mg. tablets, at one time the prescription was filled with some of both, due to the pharmacist not having the full amount of either in stock, & in my oppinion & everyone I know that have took either, we prefer the Methadose. I take the Methadose for severe pain, due to severe back & spinal damage & a broken pelvis all sustained from being thrown from a car & the car flipping & falling on top of me, I also have severe arthritis. I have taken a lot of different pain medications even oxycontin 80's, demerol, & morphine, & over any of them, I would rather have the Methadose 40mg discuit, it helps my pain so much better than the Methadone, I call the pharmacist a week before my appointment & he always makes sure he has had the Methadose in stock for me. Now the DEA is pulling both forms of the 40mg wafers out of the pharmacy's, so once again, I am left trying to find something that will ease the pain.

I have used both - and they do exactly the same thing- and I mean exactly.

I'm on methadone when im at home, and have to take it orally in front of my pharmacist daily (in order to prevent me abusing it or selling it on the street - not that I would). If I go on holiday and cant get to my pharmacy daily I am given a course of methadose for a week or two instead of having to carry litres of methadone with me. Go figure!

I believe Guest (above) is one of those people who like to confuse people on the web just for kicks - these people do exist. Very sad and idiotic considering the subject matter.

Of course they're the same drug. Doesn't reading it on the bottle prove it enough for you? But there ARE strange things about narcotics and their potencies. I have an inoperable herniated disc and ankylosing spodilitis that together make my body something like a torture prison at times. I take oxycontin for the pain, which is, if you read the bottle, oxycodone. I also take roxycodone, which is a bit less powerful but with a quicker come-on, which is also labeled oxycodone. I have taken, in the past, with little effect, Percocet, which is oxycodone and acetaminophen. SO, my point is, although methadose and methadone might be the same drug, there is a possibility that user's perception of varying effects is not unfounded. I know for a FACT that if I get the generic oxycontin instead of the name-brand, which I will never, ever do again, the effect is much milder.
Keep in mind that I'm ingesting all these medications orally, as prescribed, and not crushing or chewing the pills. Well, I lie. I sometimes DO chew my pills for a quicker effect, but I'm unsure if it really makes much of a difference. TV programs and the media LOVE to say that sniffing or chewing oxycontin transforms it into a more powerful substance, but it's simply not true. The truth is that some people will run into trouble with this drug whether they need it or not (I've been on oxycontin for a little over a year and a half and definitely consider myself dependent, but not an ADDICT. Although this is a fine line and basically comes down to Is the drug improving your quality of life or destroying it? There is no question that oxycontin and other such drugs have improved my quality of life. Now, are the withdrawal symptoms I'd go through any less than that of your average heroin addict? No. In fact, they may be worse, as oxycontin sticks around in your system a little longer than heroin, leading to a tougher "break-up." Also, the fact that I actually have severe back pain makes coming off the drugs (which I've never done intentionally) a pure living hell. As my serum levels drop, not only do I experience the classic gut-wrenching, sleepless HELL of withdrawal, but the life-shattering pain I escape from with it slinks back in like a python.
I hate all thi negative hype on TV and whatnot about oxys, though. They are a real damn life saver for me and I couldn't function without them. They work better than anything ever. People have to remember that not everyone who takes these drugs is a loser off the streets, and that they are truly miracle drugs for those who truly need them.

I was totally unaware the DEA was stopping the Rx of 40mg methadose ! As of yesterday someone who isn't me filled a Rx for a months supply of 40mg doses 3 X daily...When are they stopping this completely, because here in Oregon none of the people i know who are on methadone have mentioned anything about this. This is truly news to us!

I agree with most of the "Guests" posts that say that methadose is far weaker than methadone when it comes to management of long term heroin abusers. Methadose takes longer to get into your system, but it does stay in your system longer once you achieve "saturation". I could detox at home from heroin on the old orange biscuts but now finding 40 mg methadone biscuts are impossible and the 40mg methadose biscuts are also increasingly harder to find. Try the bupernorphine detox if u have the will power. The first time i detoxed w/ bupernorphine, it was a bit too easy...If you get sober, STAY SOBER!! I live with a brain tumor and addiction history so life can be a real hell. Metadose is the poor man's new controlled methadone.. I know this and the guest that wrote people are afraid of making problems with the programs administrators are right. Something is better that nothing. The average person I knew on methadone was on a 60-80 mg per day dose... now the average person i know on methadose is on a 120-160 mg dose per day. Seems like some politics to me. The only good thind I heard if for some reason you do miss your daily dose, you can last about 36 hours on the done. Good luck to all

First of all, I would like to say that I am totally 'pro' MMT but I am only a patient and I have been told that there is a change to take place with my medication and I am concerned %-) because I am not educated on this nor do I have even the slightest information on this switch. I am new 8-| here and I absolutely love this forum filled with an abundance of intelligence along with the regular 'opposers and think they know all' but for the most part I believe i will find my answer here. I have a question that I hope I can find a decent educated answer for my question and for myself. I currently am on 80mgs of meth wafer/pills which in a week or so I am being switched over to 80mgs of meth liquid. What is the difference between the two, if there is a difference at all? I am so confused because I do not know what to expect. Will there be a difference and if so would you mind giving me an educated answer (as best as one can). I am a bit weary about this change but my goal remains the same which is to one day soon detox and maintain working on sobriety or rather 'total abstinenance'. I welcome any reply please. I hope I am not working this wrong by asking my question. Just let me know if I am not within any regulations. :$

I agree that the two are probably the same. I was on mmt for 10 mos and no one at the clinic ever even hinted at what i would be in for if i stopped suddenly. However this forum concerns the differences between generic and name brand methadone. If you assimilate all of the posts you may arrive at some truth. The two are the same but different. If it works for you take it and be prepared for hell if you stop.

I would like to comment on the methadone verus Methadose. I am in Chronic Severe Pain, I was absolutely grateful for methadone. Methadose brand made me so sick I was bedridden and belived I was dying. I strongly believe Methadose is killing people. Whatever binders they are using make some people ill. Besides what other manufactor makes the 10 mg tablets a 100 times larger than the other manufactors' brand. The size difference is the key.If this company decided to put in fillers so people would believe they are getting more for the money should be held accountble. The stomach's or /and livers of some individuals may not be absorbing the drug's fillers and the actual drug. So the patients take more to get relief. Then the liver becomes overwhelmed and doesn't screen out the toxins resulting in death. If the liver is impaired then more drug is released into the bloodstream.. Just a thought, Do you agree?

Sure, there isn't SUPPOSED to be any difference, but somehow there is. Obviously, you've never EXPERIENCED these drugs to be able to make an sort of judgment. I was once on methadose (cherry) and during that time I had the opportunity to use the copper colored methadone that was used before the generic methadose. It was clearly much stronger and more potent than methadose. I spoke to many, many people who had the same exact experience. So, if they are exactly the same, then explain to me why tens of thousands of people can attest to significant differences (in feeling) between the two? I for one was shocked at how different I felt. It totally came out of left field for me and when I discussed it with other people, 80% of them reported the same reaction. My belief is that both are the same chemical substance but there is less in one than in the other.

They are the same drug just difference names from different manufacturers......they are supplied in different strengths and different shapes.....if you want to get alittle deeper into this subject....All generic
drugs (by law) can be a small percentage different in their active ingredients.So two 10 mg tablets made from different companies could have different amounts of the active drug dolophine

look mate ill be straight fglass66 has a good answer to what it basicly is and it seems your gp has perscribed it because your pain outways the side effects to answer your quest it is additive but taken properly is very affective pain reliver if you have concernes wit becoming addicted consult your gp to set up a program to ween of methadone once your pain is controled

There is definately a difference between & it is effect and cost the previous chat, in ur opinon was rude, but very very right in mine. Thats why now in uk methadone has exceeded its patent and is now copied by various other companies other than rosemont the original producers. matindale now made Physeptone, which again like methadose is nowhere near as effective. However 1 small point that i would slightly disagree with is that methadone although gives a high whilst stablising in first few wks. all prescribers would consider a high a negative side effect. its supposed to hold u, nothing more. plus body adapts.
