I am planning on everyday, running to the Y, then working out then running back home. I would have to run about 2.5 miles to the Y and then about 3 Back (because i would start from school since i have drivers ed everyday).

Is it a good idea to workout inbetween your runs?

Thanks

For someone still at school, I think you have hit upon an excelent general training plan.
Variety for young people is the key. (us more mature people too)
Rather than just running 2.5 miles, weights and running 3 mile back home, vary the intensity of your runs, hard/easy days and rather than same paced running, hard/easy efforts within each individual run.
Same goes for your weights, hard and easy days.
Get someone to show you how do the olympic lifts. Perfect the technique
and practice them. Still the best weight workout in the book as far as running related exercise goes.
