Hi, my baby has gained only 500 g for 8 weeks from her birth. Is this normal, or should I get concerned?

Hi, young mothers are always worried if their children are getting enough weight. Perhaps, this is with reason. However, don’t expect your breastfeeding baby to grow too fast. It is better if you use breast feeding, for as long as you can. Baby formulas provide more energy for babies but they don’t contain antibodies which are responsible for protecting baby from outer bad influences. Generally, for first six months a baby should gain 1-2 pounds per month. From sixth month to one year, it should gain one pound. Babies usually grow in length about an inch a month during the first six months.
