i have pain in knees after alcohol, red wine, beer and some spirits. i thought i was clever, and was narrowing it down to certain drinks etc. this started about 12-14 years ago. i then went on to blame olives, dried fruit, etc, and concluded sulphites were the culprit. but then i started to become more sensitive generally, and glass like pain in different parts of the knee and surrounding area. years before all this i had suffered from jocky itch, and bouts of athletes foot. not putting 1 and 1 together it has taken me this long to get to the bottom, and with no help from the doctor or internet. i simply started an elimination diet, which is very hard to stick to, but the benefits once you get over the boring food for a week or two are amazing. i found i am allergic to yeast of all things, of which wine and beer had plenty. yeast is in stock cubes, most of them anyway, soya sauce, cheap brands and all bread, the list is endless. cakes, self raising flour. i could go on. so my advice to anyone who ventures here in utter frustration at the awful painful knee/knees they have, which is not age i can reassure you, is this, try an elimination diet. the effect take a few days to about five for severe bouts, but all of a sudden, you are in control and it feels GOOD for once.sorry to drag it on but i feel that if i can save anyone the pain over all those years that i suffered then this scribble will have been worth every minute it took me to write. one last thing. just when you think you have cracked it things go wrong.....don't give up? it comes together when you're least expecting it. please tell me how you got on if you read this i am
