The drug which is mostly used on cases of latent tuberculosis infection is isoniazid. It have to be given in daily dozes of 5 mg/kg for 9 months. There are two recommended alternative regimes for adults: 2 months of daily rifampin plus pyrazinamide and 4 months of daily rifampin. Either regimen should be considered for persons who are likely to have been infected with isoniazid-resistant strain.

Latent TB means that there is not an actual infection yet, and there should be no symptoms. Either he has an active TB infection, or latent TB, and the illness is something else entirely.
