I've been experiencing these same light headed, off balance feelings for Id say over 10 years. Doctors usually look at me like I'm nuts when I say I feel like I'm not really here. Almost like my eyes and what I'm seeing arent conected to my body. I Feel perhaps a little easier to explain now that I've read some of these posts. I haven't seen anyone mention blood sugar. After having a couple of doctors tell me it was all in my head, I was diagnosed with low blood sugar. The best I've felt since this diagnosis is when I follow the low blood sugar diet. It's hard to stick with it but worth looking into. I wasn't able to ride my motorcycle anymore and it got me riding again. Good luck everyone hope that helps

I have had some of these same symptoms for the past 4-5 years. I have noticed two things that have made a huge change, none of which doctors ever caught onto. I was around 23 when I started getting really spacey, and having mood swings. I couldn't focus and had daily headaches, even migraines. It got to the point where I had 2-3 really bad "out of body" episodes. I now think they were panic attacks. After going to neurologist, he wanted to give me a CT scan and put me on some drugs. I did some research myself and looked specifically at my diet. This first thing I stopped right away was drinking diet coke / pepsi. I now realize I had a really bad reaction to Aspartame, which is an artificial sweetener. Just days after I stopped, I started feeling much better. Headaches pretty much stopped, and I wasn't feeling as spacey / dizzy. There is a lot of research to support the side effects people commonly experience from this sweetner. I still however had mood swings, and depression problems. I looked again at my diet, and completely eliminated gluten. I was always one of the naysayers when it came to gluten sensitivity, I just thought it was a fad. Sure enough after a couple of weeks my mood swings greatly decreased, and my depression is at 10% of what it used to be. Its amazing how much Ive come to realize how diet can wreak havoc on your body. Ive started to incorporate working out 4-5 times a week for at least 30 minutes, which has knocked out the last little bit of headaches / depression. It can be a hard lifestyle change at first, but well worth the benefits!

What did you do to help your symptoms?

Sound like you have anxiety. I suffer from this too. :( There are many driving forces of anxiety, and I wanna share these articles, which were eye opening for me. By Dr L Wilson. He recommends changing your diet rather than taking medicine for it, and healing will come. It may take time, though. God bless.

I came across this thread today and i'm glad I found it. I have been going through the same symptoms since just before the summer. At first it started when I thought I had heart problems and I was getting pains in my chest and it drove me to some serious panic attacks. I got 2 EKGs done and both were normal. I was diagnosed with acid reflux and I took the medication and the pains went away.

Fast forward maybe 2 months later, my wife was coming home from a business trip and I was cleaning the house when all of a sudden I got this crazy spacey dizzy feeling like I was floating through the air and was detached from my body. At the time I had drank maybe 3 cups of coffee and I was puffing on a pretty high nicotine e-cigarette. I was terrified and it wouldn't go away. It lasted for around 2 weeks and it was the worst time of my life. I went to the doctors and he diagnosed me with GAD and gave me a prescription for Xanax and a referral to a psychiatrist. I was disappointed because he just kind of brushed me off. The spaciness stayed with me and I had a real sensitivity to light so went and got an eye exam which was fine and the eye doctor suggested I get a second docs opinion and ask for a CT scan. I went to the second doc and he was much more understanding and referred me for an MRI of the brain. This came back clear and the fogginess started to subside shortly after. Today the fogginess and spacey feeling comes and goes along with an off balance feeling like I am about to fall. When it happens I feel a tightening around my sinus area. It isn't half as bad as it was those first few weeks but I haven't totally shaken it off.

I have been taking vitamin D3 and magnesium due to a vitamin D deficiency which I have read can cause these symptoms and I think it is helping me. I know now that caffeine and nicotine trigger anxiety and I have no doubt that's probably what set me off on this downward spiral. I get the feelings every Sunday too and I know now its because I am usually hungover, which also creates anxiety and consuming coffee and nicotine just makes it worse. But I can live with it better because I feel I understand what is wrong with me. But in the back of my head i'm always thinking the worst.

I have had a lot going on in my life the past year which has taken its toll on me and I have no doubt now that anxiety the main cause of my issues but maybe not completely. I think I may have some sort of inner ear or sinus issue also and I will go to the docs to have it looked at.

Stay strong people. There is light at the end of the tunnel

Mike, your symptoms are exactly like my husband's for the past 3 years ...good to know he is NOT alone! He has seen a total of 26 doctors , mostly specialists, about this with NO diagnosis and no tre a tent. Since your comment was posted over a year ago, I am wondering if you have yet found any help. Hope to hear from you positively!
Thanks.

To me it really just sounds a lot like horrible anxiety problems. It sounds an awful lot like what I am going through!

Talking about the panic attacks and anxiety makes me cry :( I have been dealing with panic attacks since I was in the 8th grade, I have developed anxiety and social anxiety as well within the last 3 years. Some days are worse that others and some days are better. However I have found a way to cope and control my anxiety and panic attacks at least to a certain extent. And although I am not 100 percent cured It has helped me out tremendously and I am starting to get ahold of myself.

I hope this helps somebody out there out because it is something I have wished I could change for nearly 10 years.

It is an excellent read and was very helpful to me :)

Acid reflux. Silent gerd. Same symptoms no diagnosis from many doctors. All the symptoms can be caused by gerd, believe me. Treat yourself for gerd and it might save you.
