Thnx for sharing your story sweetie, I also had my left lung removed almost 3 months ago. You can live normally on one lung. Just make sure you get plenty of exercise to expand your other lung. You will be fine. Stay strong

had half lung removed 2007, and now in 2015 May had the other half removed. I am doing great at 74yrs. old. Just tell yourself ** dont panic ** breath slowly and all will seem normal. good luck to you. If we are all the same, you have to take smaller bites and sips of liquid for a few months to get back to normal swallowing

I had my right lung removed backin 2011 due to cancer in top lope.
I an not a smoker so left lung as healthy as a 60 year old would be! I am SO grateful to do so many normal things like I used too. Digging in the garden is tough going, so have to pace myself. Walking up hill is a pain , but I get there stopping in stages to get breath back. But thank God every day that I am not bedridden or in chemo every month. I am monitored every 6 months, which is worrying and reassuring st the same time.
Only other thing to watch out for is if it is right lung the heart has more room to expand and this was when my recovery was delayed as my oxygen level kept dropping and they eventually discovered after 4 rushed returns to hospital that the heart was 'shunting' because I had s hole on the heart which was. Fixed with. PFO via my groin. Then I was like a puppy dog

Hello, i can also attest to having a pneumonectamy at the age of 28. I was at work and suddenly felt a stabbing sensation in my back. I thought some fresh air might help so i go outside of my office for air, and had someone call an ambulance. By the time the ambulance got there i was having difficulty breathing. While in the hospital for a 1 month period, the doctors were not able to re inflate the lung that had collapsed so the only option was to remove it. Since then it has been an uphill battle for me, i have trouble some days getting out of bed, i am on two different types of steroids to keep my airflow regular, and find it very difficult to play with my dogs or sometimes even walk around. I try to exercise regularly per ordered but sometimes feel that it makes matters worse. My advice is to find a good specialist in your area. Pain will be pretty intense some days feeling like someone may be sitting on his chest, but the steroids help with that so he shouldn't have to be on painkillers

I am 20 years old and have been living with one lung for 17 years. At the age of 10 I was told that my lung would not be able to support my whole body by the time I turn 15 and would have to be put in a wheelchair. Anyway, at the age of 3 I got a severe case of pulmonary fibrosis and both my lungs are still in there. Unfortunately one doesn't function and the other only runs at 70% capacity. What I didn't mention is, I am not in a wheelchair. I am a large 6'6 and manage to do day to day activities. As a large person I find it difficult to keep my diet balanced since I can eat a lot of food to keep my large self going and find it difficult to do much exercise. To be honest life has been difficult, and I know I'm not going to live as long as most people. But I am hopeful I will live to a reasonable age and succeed in many things.
My name is Liam and I have one lung.

I have one lung, too...
I had that ever since I was a baby, since that's all I remember.
I have one normal ear on the left side, and a small ear of the right.
And yeah, if you don't believe this, it's alright.
I'm just sharing my story.
I'm Angelica.... A Filipina
