I have been coughing for nearly 6 months. The cough is loaded with phlegm. I was told that it is because I have one working lung (block by a blood clot. Supposedly the one working lung is not able to rid the excessive phlegm. I am trying to increase fluids, such as teas, sodas, to get rid of the phlegm. Nothing is working. During the night, I am using a CPAP machine as well. I have been taking several kinds of medicine to resolve the problem. Right now I am taking Nexium and it hasn't helped one bit. An Ent doctor suggested increasing the dose. I fear now that I will be coughing for the rest of my life. The coughs are becoming more painful.
