My eight year old pedigree Great Dane has a nasty lump on its back, that is what it looks like, anyway. I have only just noticed and I am not sure if it has been there for a while. He is too big to be a lap dog you see, and we don't cuddle as much these days. I know eight years is a reasonable age for a Great Dane, but he is such a lovely dog and I would hate to have to part with him already. I am suspecting is is cancer, but is there any possibility it could be something else?

I have 3 dogs, two chocolate labs and a bichon frieze. Two of my chocolate labs have lumps. One is 15 years old the other is 7. They are calcium build-ups. Nothing to worry about. Feel the lump, if it is squishy like, you defenitly have nothing to worry about because thats what it is. If it is hard and does not move, get it checked out.
