I don't think anxiety is the cause. It is more likely to be the effect.

It might be that your heart doesn't like to work efficiently when you lie down. The only way to find out is to have a nocturnal imaging of your heart.

That is not the case for a large part of those who posted here. Most of us do not think about their heartbeat but their heart is still pounding like mad within their chest when they lie in bed. There is indeed a problem in many of these people with their heart, but doctors simply do not seem to have an answer yet, mostly because THEY CARRY OUT THEIR TESTS DURING THE DAY, when symptoms are not present.

This is the worst post in the thread. Do NOT follow this suggestion. Drinking more than 10% of your body weight in water per day is very likely to cause a water intoxication. Drinking more than 20% of your body weight in water in a day will just kill you.

Awesome post! I just wanted to say the very same things. Doctors are simply making wrong diagnosis in our case. This happens because symptoms are all very similar and it is really hard to understand where the problem is. My educated guess is that the problem is in your heart, but doctors will never tell you because they know that telling you that will make your situation worse. They will show you your ecg and echo and tell you that you are fine.
Maybe if they moved their ass and did an echocardiogram AT NIGHT WHEN THE f*****g SYMPTOMS ARISE, they would eventually find something.
But they live up there, untouchable. Making tons of money. And caring less and less about diseases that do not stand out at the very first places of their stupid statistical lists of diseases sorted by frequency.

Anxiety is not going to make your limbs go numb when you are trying to sleep! You are not helping anyone by dropping the "A"-bomb. This person wants a real explanation to something that has physical causes. He is overweight, is taking stimulants (nicotine), and is either pinching nerves or cutting off circulation when lying down due to physical forces. The extra weight in the horizontal position can put extra force on the chest, spine, shoulders, etc which in turn can put force on the circulatory system which is already under extra stress because of the stimulants taken.

Anxiety is not an explanation for your problems or any problems. It is an imaginary illness created so pseudoscientists and psychologists can be relevant. What good does it really do us for ours brains to create false signals of pain from the body whenever we are in emotional distress? If it was 10,000 years ago and we were fighting for our survival in the wild how exactly would this help our survival? Wake up people. Please!

Hi all

I am a 25 year old male

i weigh in at 85kg

I to have the exact same feelings, the laying down, then waking up with numb arms and feet irregular feeling heart beat and heavy chest, i also feel very cold but dry and dehydrated, im going absolutely nuts with anxiety which i think is caused by what is happening and possibly making it alot worse.

i wouldnt say i have the healthyest diet or the most physical lifestyle other than the physical lifting at work which can get very draing and work is stressfull (probably my own doing)(i wind myself up a bit)

i to have been in and out of the hospital getting tested for a while now to and i still just get told nothing is wrong with me and im sweet to go home, how this helps my cause i dont no but i guess you feel a bit better (but only untill you have to sleep again).

i am very worried and definatly you could say that i am very weary and almost scared to even bother going to sleep. i dont no if it is dangerous or not but would be nice to no thats for sure, and what places would you go to get checked about things like this, sleep clinics, gp, or somewhere else.

omg.. never been so happy (well like u said, not happy) but comforted in knowing I'm not alone.. I focus on my breathing about 75% of my day. I yawn because I feel like that's the only way I can get enough of a breath, I've had for almost a year now terrible acid reflux.. i seriously burp at least 100 times a day and I feel so much discomfort if I can't burp leaving myself to force air out of me.. I concentrate so much on that, my breathing, and it probably has CAUSED me some anxiety.. I hate it. I feel like there has to be some medical/logical explanation for all these happenings. Sleeping at night is a task in itself.. my mind doesn't just shut off, my heartbeat races, and I can feel pulsating in my head. I've worried myself sick with brain tumors, cancers, cysts ( none of which I've been checked out for because I always chicken out and also don't have the money) but I just pray this is something that will go away on its own. I don't want to take medecine for anxiety for I fear it will make me depressed or "not myself" .. some days I'm fine but others such as today I find myself on sites like these trying to find answers..Idk what triggered this. I'm pretty healthy.. I've had my share of partying back in the day but I'm not a smoker/druggie/and not overweight.. I want to start working out because as every doctor says exercise is key. I just want relief and it's making me so upset and not myself that I can't just wake up, feel 100% rested, and feel 100% myself.. I have terrifying thoughts sometimes of dying and it sounds crazy but when your body starts acting up and you start taking notice you assume the worst! If anyone has any answers I would greatly appreciate it!!

Thank you for the most practical evaluation ever.
Fear is a bondage.
Our bodies are a temple that should be presentable before God as a place to rest His Spirit.
Thank you for reminding us we need to take better care of our bodies for 2014.
I want to live a more productive life and fulfill my dreams and goals. Let's stop complaining and use wisdom in educating ourselves on healthy lifestyles.

Been a week of not much sleep alot of headaches. When I lay down to try to sleep my heart rate seems to pick up its rather irritating cause draws my attention an I notice jolts of pain only seconds long. I also had my arms an legs go numb quickly when laying awkward. I went to urgent care cause I was nervous. After 5 hours of questions blood tests an a cat scan I was angry they told me it was anxiety. I do have alot going on in my life recently married an recently found out were having a baby. I'm very thankful for this. I didn't realize you could get anxiety without feeling stressed but after reading these posts I think I'll find the most boring book in the house to change my mindset an hopefully get some sleep
