Hello! I have spotted a spot ļ on my leg the other day as it started to hurt. The color of the spot is brown, and I would feel slight pain from time to time. Could it be melanoma? Please, let me know asap! Thx

Yes, it could be melanoma. I think youu should visit a doctor as soon as possible. It is very good that you noticed it now, as early detection is very important in melanoma and is treated successfully. If not noticed in time, melanoma represents one of the most deadly cancers. If the doc suspect this could be melanoma, he/she will probably do a biopsy to make a definite diagnosis in which they will try to remove all of the suspicious-looking growth. If the growth is too large to be removed entirely, the doctor removes a sample of the tissue. A pathologist then examines the tissue under a microscope to check for cancer cells.
