I have a concern and hope I can get some help. My sister has M.S., My brother's daughter has M.S., and today learned that my other brother's son was dx with M.S. I am really concerned about my children and grandchildren. Who can I turn to - to get some answers. Is it genetic? What do we need to look at - for example symptoms. My nephew the latest suddenly lost feeling in his right arm and right leg, other than that he was well.

Hi Diana,
I hope can help you at least a bit with the information because one of my former coworkers was diagnosed with MS about a year ago. So we did all the research we could, at that point. And I'm sure you've seen it yourself, there really are no reliable and certain information on how to treat it. Anyway you look at it, it still is incurable. The treatments only help to make periods without the disease longer, so at least there is a some chance for a normal life. Teat's how much medicine and the doctors know about what is the cause. And my friend I mentioned - she was the first in her family to suffer from MS. Now, the officially, they say that MS is not genetic disease. I know you can't not think about the risk for your children and grandchildren, that's simply impossible for you and I know that, but there is absolutely no way of being sure about what will happen - they could all grow up healthy.
If there is any other way I could help or if you need just to talk, I'm on here sometimes. And my friend is now as good in health (apart the obvious) as if nothing happened - a year ago it looked like her whole left side of the body was going to be numb... Wish you all the best!
