Since I was a preteen (I'm in my 20s now) I have had a rather above average size clitoris as the hood doesn't cover the glands, so it looks like a small penis. I eventually figured out that it was my clitoris and that (thanks to sex ed classes) it was different and ever since I have been self-conscious about it. At a recent visit to my doctor (who by the way is my new doctor) the issue of the size of my clitoris was brought up even though that wasn't the reason why I went. My doctor told me that I have clitoromegaly due to PCOS. I have been very depressed lately concerning my clitoris. I hate the way it looks. It's hard for me to accept this and I have spent years wishing that it would look normal. I feel like somehow I've been cheated and that doctor visit just confirmed what I already knew, that I wasn't normal. Should I really be so worried about this?

You haven't been cheated, you've been gifted. Most guys would go nuts over a girl with a large clitoris. I can't even find my wife's clit, it's hiding somewhere in there and there is nothing to see --- or touch. It's in there and if I rub around the general area where it's supposed to be we can get the desired results. Having a clit to love that I could actually touch and caress the way I would like to, so I could give her ALL the pleasure she deserves, would be like heaven to me. And I'm sure she would like it too.
I would LOVE to see one standing out like yours. Be happy you have it because you will find a guy who can't resist it and can't leave it alone. Of course that may be tiring after a while but what a way to be tired.
Have you been hiding your blessing from the guys you date? I can't believe you haven't found out how much most guys like that at your age.
ENJOY ---- you have a wonderful gift.

Hi guest,
I am a little confused. How did your doctor diagnose you with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome from a symptom without doing any testing. Yes, he or she wisely came up with one of things in the differential (the list of things which can cause clitoromegaly), but there is blood work and ultrasounds, which should be done before diagnosising you with PCOS. Furthermore, if it is PCOS, your doctor may want to look into it further.
I agree with the others as far as there is a large range of normal. So don't worry about that.

Absolutely not! Normality is largely a social construct. You probably should be proud of it as long there nothing medically wrong with it other than its size. Of course one is going to feel the way one feels about some aspect of our bodies. For example, I don't like the look of my knees although I have never had any problem with them and both men as well as women say I have great legs.

Hi Guest. I hope you're believing enough from the other posters have said.
Indeed, your doctor may be suffering from the same skewed cultural point of view as many people who don't have medical training. If you're in North America, the chances are higher that your Doctor is unaware of the normal state of genitalia! Be glad you're not a boy... as you'd have had a 60-90% chance of having been circumcised as an infant, even if your genitals were completely normal!
Labiaplasty and clitoris reduction is all the rage: mostly because of people thinking that nothing is supposed to show outside of the Labia Majora: but nothing could be more wrong.

enjoy your large clitoris, its a blessing. i have a larger than normal clit and love it. my sexual partners love it. i never knew i was that different in size until later in life when my lesbian partner mentioned it. i always thought most women had small clitoris' and seemed more hidden . its all in your perspective. why would any differences be shame inducing? i feel i have better clitoral orgasms than the average woman, yay! celebrate your sensations~:)

From my teenage years, I've always known that something was "different" about my clitoris and for years was uncomfortable with myself in sexual situations. I, too have been diagnosed with PCOS, but never told about clitormegaly. Please dear one, do NOT be ashamed of having a large clitoris. Once you get over the embarrassment and issues (I did in my mid-twenties) that you have about your "situation" you will be very THANKFUL!!! If, you are sexually active, have your partner explore that part of your body, I promise you, it will take you to another level and new heights you've only dreamed of. As a woman in my late 40's, I've long been over any embarrassments, but have learned to appreciate what I have and I am thankful for my BIG clitoris and the wonderful sensations it gives me. I wouldn't change it, even if I could!!! Learn yourself and enjoy!!: )
