since not a single post talked about the THD cost I started a separate post under the heading "THD (transanal hemorrhoidal dearterialization) COST?"

In that post I will tell whoever wants to know about how much it cost me and tell you about my experience from Day 1 till my body recouperates.

Skydiver here, just too lazy to log in. My final itemized bill was right around $20,000.00. My cost out of pocket was about $1,300.00 with insurance. I have supplemental insurance so I should make a small profit on it.

I appreciate your reply skydiver. I am guessing that your hospital stay might account for a large portion of the $20,000? Thank you also for talking about your experience. I don't think people realize how painful the process can be. I was in a living hell for the first 3 days. I literally felt like I was on fire.

Hi, I am lying here in agony after a partial bowl movement, after which I use a garlic clove covered in aloevera gel a s a suppository, the aI apply witch hazel on a cotton pad to the external piles, I am so sick of this routine...always been out of action, I'm supposed to my boys to their soccer match, but I have to arrange for other parents to carry them, this is so debilitating, dose anyone one know if there is an A doctor in Ireland trained in the TDH procedure?

Five hours post-op from a THD and doing well.  Pain is about a 5/10, but it is constant and there is this feeling that I would feel better if I could just have a BM.  However, I know there is nothing there because I also had a colonoscopy and the pre-requisite prep.  For those interested in whether or not this procedure is for you, know that it depends on classification.  Grade 3 & 4 hemorrhoids also have an element of prolapse where tissue is pushed outside the anus.  Pain and bleeding were not so much the issue, but hygiene and annoyance were.  With the THD, there is also an anopexy performed where that tissue is drawn up inside the anus. Although it is quite early in recovery, I can a already tell that this tissue has been indeed been drawn up via the sutures that also ligate or dearteriolize the blood supply to the roid. I will try to remember to keep posting.

Hello, 32 male. Texas. As of now it has been 15 days post op. I had THD, external hemorrhoid, and a fissure addressed. I have yet to sit down except on the toilet. I've lost 18lbs and the excruciating pain of my bowel movements leave me sweaty, shaking with weak-knees. Walking for very long even becomes painful. I don't know exactly which procedure is causing the additional pain, but the medicine I have is no longer working. On top of all this I've developed another external hemorrhoid which adds to the agony of my BMs. I appreciate the doctor for the surgery, but I wish recovery would have been discussed in more detail. Feel free to message me with questions.

I posted earlier asking about costs.  I also formed my own subject line at the same time called "THD (Transanal Hemorrhoidal Dearterialization) costs?"  Under that subject line I posted my horror story of THD from day 1 through week 1 and then after being released from the hospital for massive bleeding.

If you are thinking about getting this procedure, read my posts.

1)I felt EXCRUCIATING pain.

2)I almost died.

3)The hemorrhoids are back.

So now I need to get the traditional surgery.  I am planning to live with these hemorrhoids for an entire year so I can build up the courage to get surgery again, but this time the real surgery and not this "NEW MAGICAL CURE".

I post under the name Anon.

I also detail the all the costs in the post.

As a provider for the THD procedure, I have treated more than 150 patients with the Doppler Guided haemorrhoidal artery ligation. Over 85 % of my patients are pleased with the results and could return to work in 1-2 days. They had minor dyscomfort and the procedure was done as a day-case procedure.

My husband had the THD surgery a week ago.  The one thing that we were not told was that when a male has this surgery you have alot of difficulty urinating.  In fact he had to learn how to catheterize himself yesterday.  He filled with urine and when he went to the doctor they took 40 ounces of urine out of him.  The actual site of the THD is not bothering him and he has no pain.  It would be helpful to know that if a few days pass and you do not have a bowel movement even after taking Ducolax you need to take 2 enemas, one a mineral oil one and one a saline one.  After the enemas he blew himself out.  He is still using the catheters 3 times a day, we hope we can stop using them soon.  As soon as he can go on his own.

Most people with a serious case of hemorrhoids have tried many treatments. For others, their first thought is to go to a doctor and have a hemorrhoid operation. It is not as simple as it seems, proper consultation is required to have an educated decision to proceed with an operation or not.
