My eyes and face was swallen. RA?

I have recently been to the DR. for what we thought was "ALLERGIES". MY face and eyes are very swollen. I took the pill "pack" that she gave me and it did nothing. She than sent me to get a shot. That helped but not for several days. In the mean time she did blood work. She it now sending me to a RA specialist. She said my "sids"are high and I have rh (RA?)factor in my blood. What does all of this mean to me? Is it inevitable that I have RA? I don't go to RA DR. until May. My face is still swollen is there anything I can do for that until I go in May? I still need to go to work regularly.
