Hi Im 26 and my girlfriend has herpes and I don't know what to do. I been with her 4 about 5 years and now she talking about having kids. I wanna know how can I get her pregnant without me getting herpes? Plz help me.

Has she just recently contracted herpes, or is this something that she has had for awhile? I contracted herpes from a frat guy when I was 21 (I'm 37 now) and only had one outbreak. I've been with my husband for 15 years and he has never gotten it. The only way you can contract this from your girlfriend is if she has an outbreak and you have unprotective sex during that time. If she's had previous outbreaks, she should know the symtoms and what to watch for. I've had 5 children, so having children isn't a problem. She just has to be open with her ob/gyn during pregancy to ensure she doesn't have an outbreak & gives birth vaginally. if this is the case, they would do a c-section to avoid exposure to the baby.
I would find out how often she has had outbreaks, some ppl have them every month (I could not imagine because it is HORRIBLE!). If she has re-occuring outbreaks she can take medication to help control them. If she rarely has them, as long as she understands what signs to look for then you may never contract it. If the outbreaks are often, avoid sexual contact with her during that time... and for procaution I would use a condom.
Again, I want to reinterate that I have had this for 16 years and have never given it to my husband. But again, I've never had another outbreak but I do know the signs to look for.
