On October 17 my boyfriend and I had sex, we used a condom and he came in me with the condom on, which we both saw didn't break, he checked it in front of me. I'm on birth control but I missed three days earlier, so I took 2 pills at a time until I caught up. And then, I'm embarrassed to admit, my last month's pack still had week three in it, and I took that on accident, then took this month's week three pills last week. My period's supposed to start tomorrow, and today one of my breasts hurt and I felt minor cramps, and I feel like I might start bleeding, but last week, I had some sticky brown blood discharge for a few days, that I was told might be breakthrough bleeding from my messed up birth control taking. But I'm scared I might be pregnant regardless of the condom....help.

Hi TheGirl,

Your cycle is VERY likely "messed up" because of the birth control pills.  It may take a while to become regular again.

You really do need to take your pills at a specific time.

Condoms are very effective used properly.  If you want you can take a home pregnancy test at any time now.  Just be sure to use your first morning urine, your wake up pee, for the best results.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info! I feel a little calmer. My period hasn't started today, which, yes worries me, but I picked up a home pregnancy test to use tomorrow. I'm a little nervous, but I'll see how it goes! Would it make sense to say I don't feel pregnant but that the apparant breakthrough bleeding kind of freaked me out? Does that make sense?

I can understand why you're freaked out but if you used the condom, correctly, you really don't need to be.

Just as a reminder, use your first morning urine for the test. Follow all directions to the letter.

Good luck.
