My wife and I do not sleep in the same bed any more after all these years. She just turned 48 and I am 50. Her sister thinks that is normal for people in our age. She doesn’t want do sex anymore and for past 4 years we had maybe once in three months. We have talked and it does not seem to do any good, but this is frustrating me to no end. I wonder if she is seeing someone else.

I had case in family…same thing and he left her for another woman. No sex after one year lead to a divorce, and one cheat if not both. I don’t know situation with kids, but my cousin and no kids, so it was easy. They were same age as you he was 50 and she was 48! They are both now in new relationships.

Sex is just too important to a marriagie. If you have discussed it and she isnt willing to change things at all then it might be best to move on and find someone new.
Its not fair to be in a relationship where you feel unwanted and unloved.

I realize this is an older post but i just have the need to reply anyway. At 48, it is sometimes very normal not to want to engadge in any sexual contact. It is called MENOPAUSE. Menopause, if it is, is not a reason to "move on" to find someone new!!!
Granted, sex is very important in a marraige, but if there is something going on, physically and/or mentally, moving on to another person is not the answer.
The first thing one must do is speak to her Dr. Blood work can be done to see where the hormone level is at the time, medication and hormone replacement can be administered, hence a happy lady and a sexually satisfied hubby.
Just because she is not interested in sex with her hub does not mean she is seeing someone else, nor is it a valid reason to leave the marraige before they have both checked out the reasons why this is happening.
Menopause can really floor a women. Some women have a real hard time with it and disconnects with sex, their whole personna does a complete backflip. Bad moods, nasty, crying and bitchin are just a few of the symptoms, which could probably be controlled with an antidepressant.
Sometimes women get to the point where they just don't care about their marraige or themselves which makes the marraige dissolve.
