I had the Mirena inserted in June 16 2011.Every since I have had a brownish red spotting. Which is totaly normal.

Although , it is aggravating having to wear a pantyliner every single day and not knowing which days your going to be bleeding (spotting). I am justing wondering on average how long does this last? I have been told 3-6 months, from friends and co-workers and doctors. Although the best info always comes from people who have experience.

If you have experience, please let me know.

As I have learned from being a nurse, experience beats all.

I've had Mirena since January, 2010. I had very little spotting for about 6 mos, and no cramps or other symptoms after the first month. Now, I don't even have periods anymore, hooray! Now, only very slight spotting once in a while, but almost not even noticeable.

I had my mirena inserted about 6 weeks ago and as of now I'm still having the irregular spotting.  I've read other people's experiences where the spotting is constant, but mine comes and goes as it pleases.  I will say though, it took about 2 weeks for the discomfort to subside and having it put in was extremely painful - which could very well be because I haven't had any children yet.

Just to tack on to your post (if you don't mind) I'm curious to know if anyone with Mirena also suffers from bipolar disorder, is actively taking medication to control the bipolar tendencies, and is having worse than normal depression or mood swings.  I can deal with the random discharge, as irritating as it is, but the issues with my mental health are very alarming.
