Is it possible that nerve damage, neuralgia, that my wife has it has been caused by herpes? What causes neuralgia? I was aware that herpes could be that serious and provoke another condition. Her doctor believes that that happened. Is he wrong? Should we ask for second opinion?

However, Postherpetic neuralgia is an intense debilitating pain felt at the site of a previous attack of shingles (herpes).
