Hello my name is jennifer and I am 23 years old with a five year old son. Me and my husband have been trying to conceive for a while now because it is about time for that second child. Anyways, my last AF was on October 22 2009 which means I am now 40 days late on my AF and it has been 70 days total from the first day. I visited my Doc on December 17th where she performed a urine and blood pregnancy test which both came out negative. She then told me that I could wait one more cycle to see if my AF would come and then if it didn't that I would come back to see her because she would perform another test and then start me on Provera to jump start my AF. The question have is about my cervix because it is another, not definite but a piece of mind kind of way for me to figure out if I am pregnant because I check it all the time, well I checked my cervix a day after my doc visit and it was firm like an unrippened piece of fruit and low, but i checked it today and it is now swollen, soft and tender like a big pair of huge lips (sorry about the TMI) and I had to reach far to feel it almost shove my entire hand up. Could this mean that I could possibly be pregnant? I also took a pregnancy test today and I seen very faint line but so very hard to see, don't know whats going on anymore, have all the pregnancy symptoms which come and go all the time and in the middle of November about a week before my AF was supposed to start I had cramping which is a tell tale sign that I am going to get AF but all I got was some pinkish CM and then the next had tiny hint of blood (sorry about TMI again) after that I once in a while get lower back cramping like back labor or contractions but thye go away and don't last too long either and this is not normal because my AF always last 6-7 days starting heavy with cramping. Please help need advice or answers from anyone who can provide them. Thank you so much for the help.

Hi Jennifer! Since you took a test and there was a faint line - I just wanted to confrim with you that you did it correctly - didn't wait too long to check it, took it at the right time etc. Then I will announce that I believe that you ARE pregnant! But JUST pregnant! Thus the reason why you were negative on December 17th! It takes about a good 21 days after the date of conception for the HCG levels to be high enough to detect! And also with your cervix being soft too SO I want you to wait about 3 more days and then take ANOTHER test! So TRY and wait OK 8-| ;-) And start taking prenatal vitamins as IF you are indeed pregnant these will help with the baby's development, and IF you aren't they have been shown to increase a womans fertility SUBSTANTIALLY! Please let me know how you make out OK? Good luck and fingers crossed!

Thank you so much that was a very big help, I have heard that every woman is different with HCG levels therefore sometimes it can take awhile for the levels to go up. I have a quick question can I just get over the counter prenatal vitamins and do you know about how much they cost? My doctor also told me that as well that I should be taking prenatal vitamins if I am trying to conceive and I know she has not completely ruled it out yet either. I am also going to call them to make another appointment because I missed a second cycle and she wanted to see me again if I did. Fingers crossed too and I hope although if I am not it will happen in it's own time. Thank you for the friendship and the friendly advice and I look forward to talking with you again. Good luck to you as well with anything that you may be going through and if you have any questions feel free to ask me. Thank you.

Hi Jennife! Yes you can get them over the counter - in the vitamin aisle! They are usually a little bit more expensive than regular vitamins - due to their higer biotin and folic acid - the actual minerals they believe increases fertility! Start right away! And definitely let me know! Good luck honey!

Update.............I took another pregnancy test this morning and it was negative but the one last week had a faint line, did not read the test past 10 minutes though. Called the doctor going to see her next Tuesday which is the 14th I am going to request a blood quantative as well as an ultrasound because this is ridiculous and not normal for me, I will keep everyone updated and keep your fingers crossed that nothing is wrong with me.

Hi honey! A Blood test WILL be definitive! They might not give you an ultrasound till after the blood test though! I will keep my fingers crossed for you! Is that what they say now is to check before 10 minutes? It used to be after 1 minute - to stop any vapor lines!

Well when you read the box it says positive results can come up within 2-3 minutes but don't read any results after 10 minutes as they can be faulty. I have a ton of questions for her too, maybe you can answer another one for me, what is CM suppose to be like early on in pregnancy because I have always noticed the changes with my cycles but for the past two months there has been alot and it is always clear or white and watery or stretchy and did I mention alot of it lol. But anyways in the beginning when Ihad that so called "light period" afterwards the discharge had a little bit of a yellowish color to it and I notice that once in a while but I know I don't have any diseases or anything because the doc already checked me but I heard that this can be an early sign of pregnancy as well. What do you think? Thanks.

It could be a yeast infection - usually stretchy mean ovulation though! When you go next time have her do a vaginal swab - just to rule this in or out! The watery bit sounds like an infection! Back to the test, when you saw the faint line was that within the 2 - 3 minute window? Or later?

That's the problem the line was so faint I could have missed it within the two to three minute window so I am not sure on that but it was very faint but colored, like the lines on that test are purple so it would have been purple for some reason. I don't think it is a yeast infection because I have dealt with alot of those when I was younger and I don't itch and it is not on the outside either, I heard that watery means ovulation but when a woman is pregnant she can get alot of discharge because it comes from the mucus plug placing itself outside the uterus. Do you know how to find your cervix? Sorry for the TMI but I read up on how to do a cervical exam so I did one myself and I reached in with my longest finger and of course I know I got past the vaginal wall because it feels like a bunch of tires stacked together, don't know if that's a good description lol, but anyways I got past that and I felt exactly what a diagram of the cervix shows but it felt like two big huge soft puckered lips and it is high and I think open not too sure. Also I did a self exam today and when I was done there was a ton of CM on my hand, sorry about TMI again and it was like snot and globs of it and I also heard that when a woman is pregnant the CM is like snot because of the mucus plug, sorry for asking so many questions it's just been 5 years since I experienced a pregnancy I am just really excited and very thourough I have to know everything. Thanks for the help as always.

Hi honey! What you felt IS the cervix it is usually soft and lower when you are pregnant! But that is later one! You get more mucus BECAUSE of more hormones not because of the "plug" Which occurs far into the pregnancy! And is just basically the size of a quarter! So don't read too much into that! Also know that you can have a yeast infection without itchiness and odor! You can get a yeast infection many times throughout pregnancy! When you say you could have missed it, - the line - does that mean you waited after the 3 minutes to see it?

Sorry about not being clear, I took the test and waited and watched and after 2 and 1/2 minutes checked it out and thought it was negative but I could have missed the line it could have been there then and I just didn't see it because it was that faint but once my eyes caught it after that I knew where it was and it took a long time to disappear too.

Like I stated earlier honey, a blood test will be definitive! Are you booked in to seeing your doctor?
