So far, my blood sugar levels are everywhere and mean everywhere both high and low. I'm having difficulties and not sure what to do. Is the pump okay to rely on? I'm mean in terms of being pregnant. Will the pump work well enough for support a pregnancy. Does anyone have any suggestions about the pump? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Hi, so you want to get pregnant. This can really be an exciting time. I know I was really excited. I'm not a T1 but I am a T2. Nevertheless, I have severals friends who are T1 and I've been with them throughout their entire pregnancies and they use pumps. Okay, it can take time to mange your pump from anywhere between a few weeks to a few months. So, you need to wait until you get the pump under control long before you try to get pregnant. The first 10 to 12 weeks of pregnancy are critical for baby development and quite often you don't even know your pregnant for severals weeks after you are pregnant. If you blood sugar levels are not under control during the first trimester, you increase the risk of birth defects for you baby. So, this is crucial. Since your using a pump, you should have a diabetes manager assisting you a couple times a week to help you get situated and when you get pregnant they will assist you again. Make sure you manager has experience with pregnancy as not all do. If they don't, you'll need to get another pump manager to assist you. Your medical doctor can help you with this. Good luck on getting pregnant and your new pump.
