Hi there! There are no occipital bones. It is just one bone that is situated in the skull. It is in a form of trapezoid and it curves on itself. It is actually situated at the lower part of the skull in the back. The occipital bone forms a joint with the first vertebra (atlas) of the neck and allows rotation and bending of the head.
