I'm sorry to hear that! Hopefully it is due to stress and it will go back to normal.
I just got the pills and have been taking them for about three days now. So far no change but I do feel like I have a bit more energy! I'm really crossing my fingers and hoping that they work!

I wish you the best also. For me I've had the surgery twice and it only lasted for about 14-18 months, then the bleeding would start back. Right now I'm having clots so bad that I am covered in blood within a few hours. It's horrible. I jokingly tell people that God mentioned the woman with the issue of blood in the Bible just for me, lol. Have to find some humor in all of this, :(

So I think now would be the best time to update this thread. I was diagnosed with PCOS. I was given metformin, which I lost a good amount of weight on even though it's not typical. I was given prometrium for 3 "cycles" which we had to guess at because I had been bleeding for so long. With the combination of the two my cycles did indeed regulate and were so much more tolerable. Fast forward to this past thanksgiving, we found out we're expecting :) if any of you are still going through this mention the prometeium to your doctor.

Hi, Im 22 years old And I am a VIRGIN. When I was 18 in my senior year I first went 6 months with no period then when I started my period I bled for 11 months. They only reason I stopped was because I went to the obgyn and he gave me something to stop the bleeding. First he put me on birth control and that just made it worse. I was so happy to not have my period anymore because it was extremely heavy. And any physical activity made it worse. The cramps were also horrible. So I went another 6 months with no period. Then when it starts up again. They are normal for 2 months. Then all of a sudden I am bleeding non stop again. This time it last over a year. I go to a different obgyn this time. I get some blood work done a pap and an ultrasound. My lab work comes back with a slightly low thyroid and extremely low iron. And for some reason I never got the results to the pap or the ultrasound. I called with no answers and no call backs. She did give me the same medicine to stop the bleeding. And that helped a little. I was also put on iron pills. Then was reffered to a thyroid specialist who said my thyroid was not low enough to be causing this. So in other words they don't know what's wrong with me. Still he decides to put me on a very low dose of thyroid medication. After a few weeks I stop bleeding. Although it was not due to the thyroid medication. I was not taking it anymore when I stopped bleeding. So I went a few months with no bleeding. Then around July 2015 I started to bleed again. It seemed like it was going to be normal but then I started again after a week and it just kept going. I was 21 at this point. Not even a month after I started to bleed again. I was admitted to the hospital for appendicitis. I had to receive and emergency surgery. After the surgery the bleeding was so bad and the clots so big. I didn't know what to do. I was in pain from my surgery which I had a bad reaction to the Anesthesia And was on oxygen and could not eat because I was vomiting. And I feel so sorry for the nurses who had to help me and clean the bathroom. I have been on and off heavy ever since. Sometimes it is so bad that I bleed through a super plus tampon in under 30 mins and when I go to change it I don't even have to pull it out it just falls out. And the clots still come out even though I am wearing a super plus tampon. And keep in mind I am a VIRGIN!. So now it is Feb 15 2016 I am now 22 and I am still bleeding. Just went to the ER a few days ago because I was sick with a stomach virus and getting a lot of dizzy and weak spells. And again I am anemic from lake of iron. And they tell me have you seen an obgyn for your condition. Have you tried birth control? And recommend me to one. Like no you don't say. I really wish they would at least try to run some test at the ER. Like obviously its bad enough that it is effecting my health. I am just ready to know what wrong with me. Everytime I go to the doctor they do blood test and tell me I'm OK but they don't know what's wrong with me basically. its very frustrating and I am scared that I won't be able to have kids one day when I get ready.

Please get checked for PCOS if your bleeding is this irregular and nothing seems to be wrong with your labs.

I agree with the other poster, to go get checked. But in the meantime try Vitex (Agnus Cactus) pills. Someone in this thread mentioned them, and as a result I used and they have been working for me so far. Praying you find peace. I know how frustrating this can be.

That's what I had! I second this. Mention PCOS

If you have not had an ultrasound yet I would highly recommend one. I had similar issues and was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome. Most women are slightly overweight, have bleeding between periods, and have difficulty becoming pregnant. They put me on Metforman and it seems to be helping.

Daisy here, I had a ultrasound and everything was fine. They have found nothing wrong with me so I'm a total loss. My tablet started working again but it's still a on off thing, just not as bad as it has been.

This condition is usually caused by a thyroid problem or PCOS.

Hello,
I started my periods when I as 11. When I was 13 I had an ongoing period of 6 months before feeding up to my Mum and going to the doctors. They couldn't have been less helpful, telling me it was normal to be erratic until 18. That period continued for another 6 months. The following year I was bleeding three of four weeks (so the reverse of what it should be)
From 15 I was put on many of the meds mentioned in this thread, some would stop the bleeding but give me other side effects.
Fast forward and my periods seem to regulate somewhat in my latest teen years. I have been with my partner for 6 years - to begin with, I barely had a period but then they returned with a vengeance. Last year I had a period for over 6 months; come July I was given Mefenamic acid tablets to stop the period for a trip abroad. It worked, I returned home and had a hellish period but it lasted just 5 days or so. I then didn't bleed until late October. Unfortunately, my period has been constant ever since. I have been self supplementing with iron and recently switched to what they call 'gentle iron' - after a few weeks, my period for to the point that you could say it had stopped (almost) but in the last few days it's started up again.
I've woken today feeling like I really can't cope. I read one of the posts and it was so similar to my experience that I just broke down in tears. Just knowing it's not only me!!
I'm almost 30 and have been dealing with this On/off for 17 years. I've never had a proper answer; blood tests, ultra sounds etc... PCOS was banded about at one point but they even seemed to change their minds about that.
I'm lucky to have a really good man by my side but that's not even the point anymore. I want to not have to care about my period 24/7. I want to have a hope of conception one day. It's very stressful but I have no faith in my doctors at all. I might research the agnus catus. Here's hoping we all get sorted!!
