I am trying to plan a time for my orbital decompression due to Graves Disease, and wonder if anyone has any comments about their experience. My eyes are pretty protruded, but I've seen worse. I had my Thyroid out in Nov. of 06, and the swelling went down a lot between surgery and January,but hasn't changed a lot since January. I live in West Virginia, and since we are very medically underserved, I'll be having my surgery in Nebraska, where my family all lives. I am wondering if anyone can share how long it took them to recover and get back to living.

I had an orbital decompression done 11 years ago in OK City by Dr. Sterling Baker. He is the best. I would recommend him to anyone. He actually did several eye surgeries after the decompression. I went back to work about a week after the main surgery.
