hi i am 17 year old uncircumcised male that has been diagnosted with urethritis my GP has given me antibiotics treatement for it and anti-inflamatory medication as well, after 4 days treatement i can see that the infection is indeed better, but the swelling in my penis persists if not a bit worse (iflamation is a bit hard to the touch but not always mostly when i get agitated)(may be that i am just a bit paranoid). Anyway i am pretty worried, do i have reason to be or will the anti-swelling medication eventually kick in in time? thnx for listening, hoping for an answer

Swelling is a common symptom of urethritis in men. It will probably subside when you manage to get rid of the causative agent. You need to be patient and go through with your treatment. Take your antibiotics as long as your doctor ordered, even if the symptoms go away.
Sometimes, the symptoms go way before we are able to get rid of the bacteria and bacteria may stay and the symptoms may reappear and even progress to bladder and further on.
If you are sexually active, you should avoid having sex during your treatment or at least use a condom if you can’t refrain from sex. If you have a regular partner, and your infection was caused by bacteria, she should be checked and treated as well.
