period lasting 5 months

I don't exactly know myself, but I had mine for about a year because I was too afraid to go to the doctor as well. The thing is you should go because when I finally did go it turns out I was anemic, and it was from all of the blood loss. The doctors had told me that I was lucky to not have been in any sort of accident that if I had been I would have lost too much blood because it was already so low. When I went to the doctors they put me on birth control and that was it, it regulated my period. You should check into it before it gets too serious. Don't be afraid.
