Hello! My name is Angela and I have a few questions. My periods have always been irregular. Last year I only had my menstrual cycle once for three days. Starting in February 2009 I had my period for a whole month, most of it was old but it started to even out at the end. I have had my period twice a month since then with days that I will just spot after or before my period. Some times it last a day or two or a week. I don't know if my body is just trying to get back on schedule or if I may be pregnant since my periods have never been regular.

I took two pregnancy test last month and they showed false. But I have been experiencing some hip pain. I have not been wanting to have sexual intercourse because I feel uncomfortable. Certain things have been making me feel sick to my stomach. My nipples have been poking out a lot more and it seems my feet are swelling a little. It also feels like my stomach is heavy, but it doesn't look like a pregnant woman's belly. So I am sort of confused and wondering what is causing these symptoms.

Hi Angela. I am sorry to hear of all of your symptoms, I am sure they are very uncomfortable. I have a question. You mentioned taking a pregnancy test, but was it over the counter and reliable or did you go into see the doctor and have the test done there? If you did not see the doctor, I recommend seeing one right away. There is some degree of error with a home pregnancy test and although they advertise being accurate, the rate is not as high as claimed.

Your stomach upset and feet swelling, along with nipple erection are a little confusing as they are symptoms of pregnancy. The best thing to do if you are concerned and symptoms have not subsided is to see a physician so you can be checked out. Your gynecologist would be the best route to take. Best of luck to you.

Have you taken a pregnancy test Angela? That will answer your questions. Have you been on birth control of any kind that is chemical? They will cause irregularity either right after starting on them or after you stop taking them. They will also cause irregularity if you don't take them exactly as they are prescribed. There's no reason to guess about pregnancy. If enough time has passed, take a home test. Confirm it with a doctor's test. Do that now. You have a lot of unusual things happening that are concerning you. Get yourself checked out. Perhaps you should wait on the sexual activity until you find out what's really going on. Let us know what happens with you.
