About 7 months ago now I started to smell cigarette smoke, often. I'm a non smoker, none of my friends or family smoke so it's not second hand. I casually mentioned it to my neurologist around that time, he sent me for an extended EEG, which I was told showed no signs of seizure. I've had seizures in the past, starting as a child and of all the many times I have had EEG's, none have ever showed up. Strange. Just into January of this year I noticed a small lump on my head just into my hairline on my left temple, it didn't hurt but was curious since I have not injured myself. My Neurologist recently sent me to an ENT for the smoke smell so I mentioned the head lump to him. He felt it and said with relief that he didn't think it was the kind of lump that would automatically raise red flags but that we would schedule a CT Scan a the end of this month to look at it, in the mean time he is treating me with 3 weeks of antibiotics for acute sinusitis in the hopes that that is what is causing the smoke smell. Another twist... this past Sunday out of the blue I became very confused, just for a moment. My husband was there with me and I could see that he was alarmed. This quickly passed but it has shaken me. My head lump appears to be growing and shrinking and moving somewhat. I have noticed that I have headaches when it grows and they lessen considerably when the lump seems to shrink back a bit. Also I find that I tend to smell the smoke stronger when I am tired... the slower I go the better I feel. This is a real puzzle to us. Can any of you shed any light for me as to if these symptoms are somehow connected or??? You help is most appreciated.
