I am 9 weeks pregnant and i have bled heavily for the last 7 days. I was rushed to A&E last week with severe bleeding and blood clots. i was told that i miscarried by the doctors in the emergency gyno, then they send me for a scan, then to everyone surprise scan showed a heart beat and 16 mm long foetus. i was sent home and I bled ever since, last night I was rushed to hospital again...and same story, they told me that i miscarried and that my cervix is open, ( i had internal check with my GP same day and he told me that my cervix is closed) this morning I was sent for a scan and again there was hearth beat and 18 mm long foetus..i was sent home again....no explanation why I am bleeding....I am bleeding again........I want someone to tell me why am I bleeding........

You need to get your facts straight lady.. It FEELS open but is not open because if it were open it could in fact cause a miscarriage or even may cause the uterus to become infected. it may be true that a woman's cervix feels open but it most certainly is not open as this would be a health hazard to both the mother and child as the uterus is an area that does not have white blood cells so it does not fight off infection. It doesnt matter whether youre a nurse or not. Your facts are wrong and anyone who disagrees should look up what would happen if a woman's cervix were open during pregnancy.
This comment again does no good for anyone. It is true many walk around dilated. There is external and internal cervix. The ladies posting regarding their "open" cervix are obviously not feeling the internal os (opening) but the external. This considered, their concerned is based on one end of the cervix, the one they can observe. Such a blanket statement of "you will miscarry" is not only incorrect, but misleading, concerning and causing unnecessary panic in women that will hopefully have wonderful pregnancies. You pretending you know what happens 100% of the time, based on the one observation being made and preaching it like gospel is wrong and you should be banned from the site. Probably why you signed in as a guest in the first place. Ladies: If you find something that concerns you, go to your doctor. The swelling and position change can make the opening seem larger than prepregnancy states. Second + pregnancies cause an anatomical shape change in the opening that also can seem open, and some pregnancies are carried to term with slightly dilated cervix. Your doctor will use a speculum and likely ultrasound to determine how the entirity of the cervix looks. Perhaps the guest above should look up what happens if the internal os is closed and external slightly open...Instead of pretending to know everything. Your comment has helped nobody. Congrats!

I miscarried at 8 weeks when i was 17 years old. I'm 18 now. Completely graduated. And i have a boyfriend with a wonderful job. So no rude comments. But we're trying to have a baby. WE've been trying for about three months. This month i started watching my cervix positions. But right now its low, and hard. It feels somewhat opened. But also feels closed. So could this be because i've already been pregnant? I'm 3 days late on my period..
