I'm just a little over a month of my appendectomy my appendix ruptured. Doc said I had tons of puss. I'm having issues right after I eat. Pain and its sharp. I don't think its all gas but fixing to call surgeon tom cause I wonder if the puss messed up something even though I was loaded with antibiotics I read something called stump appendicitis. Its rare but after your appendix has been removed it can cause appendicitis symptoms. It can get bad I'd ask the Dr who did the surgery and I'm praying for you all and myself.

I had the same complaints. My abdominal muscles were not coordinated. See a urologist.

What did the urologist say? I've been suffering with constant nausea since my appendectomy nearly two years ago and I'm desperate for any kind of answers.

I have been looking for an answer as to why my twelve-year-old is having the same issues. He had his appendix removed in January. It is now March and he has missed a day or even two days every week due to vomiting, stomach pain, or diarrhea. 3/16/2016

HI, Glad i found this post.

I had my appendix removed over 10 years ago and I have been noticing symptoms like sensitivity to dairy products, coffee, legumes etc over this period. Since these symptoms coincides with IBS, most doctors agree that its most probably mild IBS .

I have recently seen articles which linked removal of appendix to lack of microbes in the gut leading to indigestion leading me to think that my condition is more related to removal of appendix rather than IBS. Any other insight refuting or agreeing with this observation would be welcome.

I had an emergency appendectomy in 2008. I developed an "illeus" after the surgery. That was resolved with a series of colonics. My problem has been, since the surgery, is I can only eat a mouthful of food, at a sitting. It has prevented me from going out to dinner with friends, or even being able to eat a meal with friends at home. I have resigned myself to not going out to eat, with friends or family. 8 plus years. I'm deeply embarrassed by this..so I just don't go out to eat.

Hi i had an appendectomy in march 2016. After the operation it felt like i was getting constant stitch in the area where the doctors kept pressing on my apendix, the next day i was sent home from hospital to recover. 2weeks later i was taken back into hospital with an infection in one of the wounds. but ever since ive been in agony with the lower right hand side of my stomach, a recent scan has shown inflammation in my bowel but the doctors have given me loads of things to make me go to toilet, i have no problems regarding going to the toilet so i know im not constipated or any thing. is it normal to still have so much pain nearly 5 months after an operation?

I had my appendix out 15 years ago on 9-11, I am now 27 and have all kinds of abdominal pain that doctors have been unsuccessful in diagnosing. I've had every test done and still nothing. I believe it has to do with not having an appendix and from what I've been hearing the appendix actually does lots even tho they say you don't need it. well there's lots of things that you don't "need". You can survive with all kinds of things cut out but that doesn't mean you will be optimized. From what i've heard the appendix is a store house for gut bacteria, and with out the good gut bacteria its my belief that your digestive system will be all screwed up and can cause any number of problems, for me its all kinds of abdominal pain and hemorrhoids. The doctors won't tell you this because their knowledge is Dated and they don't keep up on recent studies and certainly have a piss poor knowledge of nutrition and over all well being, they will just try to prescribe anti nausea meds for nausea rather then try to understand why you have nausea. So my next step is to look into probiotics and digestive enzymes to help balance myself back out for the lack of an appendix, lacking these can really cause any number of problems you will not absorb your foods nutrients and in return become deficient in various vitamins and minerals which will effect everyone differently. All the health really starts in the gut, even mental, all of it.

I know this post is old, but I had my appendix removed in 2012. I'm now 25 and I've had lots of stomach problems ever since.

I try to stay active, but I find that my abdominal area is very weak I can hardly do stomach exercises without it hurting. I have issues with using the bathroom (poop) too much, and also have struggled with bad breath for years even though I've cut off all kinds of food and take care of my mouth.

Throughout the years I've had to readjust my lifestyle to avoid the constipation, diarrea, bad breath, etc. and while I am probably healthier than most people I'm uncomfortable most days. I've learned that this is something to just live with as I have some good days and some bad days. I've also learned to just cut off foods that will trigger pain.

I think the appendix helps with something, but I'm not sure in what way. All I know is that the pain I feel is the same pain that I had back then before surgery. While I'm thankful to be alive, it's not like I was 100% better.

I've learned that eating nutritious foods, water , getting 8 hours of sleep, walking, and not stressing help me have more better days than bad. It doesn't always work but I can't imagine functioning without applying that to my life.

Some days feels like my lower right side will explode, some days I can't stop pooping, others hardly poop, hemorrhoids, bloating, sensitive to food, can't sit for too long, bad breath that smells like the internal body, noises in my stomach...I'm a mess!

It is never too late to add something to this site! Thank you! It really helped me to understand what I feel (even though Doctors say it is not related to the surgery).
I have had issues with my digestive system after my only surgery almost 1-1/2 years ago. Sometimes I need to apply an ice bag to my stomach to feel some kind of relief. Some days I cannot lay down on my right or left side while sleeping because it is very uncomfortable (painful). If I do not take some kind of fiber powder (Metamucil) on a daily basis I might not be able to use the restroom (defecate) for days. If I continue eating vegetables, legumes, fruits, and non-greasy foods I might have good days but never lasts too long (not even a week) before my stomach starts acting up again.
I encourage everyone to continue posting their experiences; I find everyone's posts very helpful and supportive.

THANK YOU!

I had Acute Appendicitis (not ruptured) and it was removed 4 weeks ago. Since i was discharged till today i had bouts of Nausea which comes and goes and i generally don't feel well at times.

I had chills 2 days ago and went back to my surgeon yesterday and he said he wasnt sure what it was but my appendectomy looks fine so i got a second opinion from a Gastroenterologist. Same thing, he did some blood work on me and it was okay but not sure what caused the nausea or chills.

I am so sick of not being able to be my usual self because of this stupid nausea.
