I had a total thyroidectomy on 1-8-08. I continue to have a tight feeling in my throat which my PCP explained is due to what she feels is an excessive amount of scar tissue. The pulsating and panicky feeling that I experience almost daily is very upsetting to me. I am currently alternating doses of 175 and 200 mcg of synthroid. Is anyone else experiencing these same symptoms and if so has your doctor been of any help?

If I am reading this correctly you are experiencing this for more than a year? Or am I wrong?
Maybe you just missed the year in the date you wrote in the post. If that is the case then you are still in the healing process. It can take up to 4 weeks for the wounds to heal and the hormone levels to go back to normal. You could ask your doctor for some pain killers just to ease the pain. Your tightness in the throat is probably caused by swelling, which is usual after the surgery. You have to be careful what you eat. Water is important in healing process and it helps the throat not to get sore.
