I am a 42 year old female and when i read some posts the day before my surgery i was terrified, to the extent of feling like I wanted to burst into tears. Well i am pleased to say I got through it very well. The first night after surgery i slept great, the 2nd night was the worst I was up vomiting most of the night, i believe from all the medication in my system, was very sick to the stomach, went to doctor and got an injection and tablets for this and was quite good after that. My main problem was not being able to lie down for about a week as was very uncomfortable when i lowered my head. But propped myself up on couch and got fairly comfortable. 2 weeks post surgery tomorrow and I am feeling really great, my throat is still a little tender to swallow but eating and drinking fine. My advice is keep hydrated, eat toast, take meds on time, or just ahead of time no matter if you think you need them or not!! and if you feel nausea go straight to the doctor and get a shot of Maxalon, don't wait to start vomiting. 2 weeks off work was perfect for me. Good luck and dont focus on all the negative, be positive and you will be fine just like I am. :-))

I am so thankful for this site. This is day 7 for me from tonsillectomy and adeniod... anyway. I'm 43 years old. The 1st 3 days weren't so bad. Day 4 the pain increased and so did the Nausea. I hate Lortab. It makes me sick. I finally started taking Ibuprofen 800 and quit the Lortab. Last night was the worst night of this entire ordeal. My tongue was extremely painful. On a scale of 1-10 it was 9.75. I ended up taking some Lortab anyway but it didn't really help. I packed my neck in ice and tried to bravely wait until morning to call my DR. I was up at 3 am reading this site and taking comfort in the fact that I am not the only person who has ever gone through this ordeal. I appreciate every post that I read and this site helped me to understand that all of these pains etc were normal and how to deal with it. My Dr didn't give me the info that I found on this site. My Dr called in Prednisone today and Nystatin Oral Rinse (for flush). I don't know if I have flush or not. I can't hardly open my mouth wide to look at my tongue and my tongue is so swelled up it's difficult to see the top of it. I'm going to make it through this. I feel like the worst is behind me really. People seemed so surprised when you tell them that you are worse day 5,6,7 etc. After reading about everyone's ordeal I just realize that this is normal for this surgery. Hang in there recovering people. If you feel bad just read this site. You'll find other's are worse or how to deal with it.
