Hi Maryann: CONGRATULATIONS 1st of all! 2nd is the blood spotting or soaking? SOME women can get a period while pregnant, it's usually lighter though. And it is usually at the beginning of a pregnancy. Almost as though the brain didn't get the memo!! :O As you have been through a miscarriage before, I am sure you will remember what happened with that. If you feel for 1 second that it is another one (I hope not) then you have to go to the doctors. An ultrasound will determine if the pregancy is advancing. Also an ultrasound will put your mind at ease. GOOD LUCK!

Dear Maryann: I will tell you a story, my girlfriend was on the pill when she became pregnant with ALL of her 3 children! She told the doctor she was pregnant, he took a test and said no your not! She knew she was a month later went back and low and behold she was - AND she was totally right about when she got pregnant. Did you know that some home tests are more accurate then the stick they use at a doctors office? That is why they have started charging for pregnancy tests at doctors offices. And most of the time if you go in and say your test was positive, they don't check themselves because it is considered valid! That is what happened with my 2nd child. I told her my test was positive and the rest was assumed.

The ultrasound will be the determining factor, STRANGE things happen to our bodies when we are pregnant. I remember I was 12 weeks along with my 1st child, I had to have emergency surgery for a cyst. I FREAKED out about loosing the baby. 2 days after leaving the hospital I had a HUGE clot and bleeding! I was totally sure that I had lost the baby, but I hadn't, and the doctor hadn't a clue why that happened! Spotting occurs all the time with pregnant women, but as you have unfortunately found out. There is spotting and then there is the FAR opposite of a loss! So I wish you NOTHING but luck and a healthy virile little oval next week with your ultrasound!!!! Please let me know! Fingers crossed and best of luck and health Dawn

Hi had my scan yesterday there is nothing in the womb its total empty,
So ive either passed it or it may be ectopic pregnancy.
They also done hcg blood yesterday and will do another one tomorrow and then back to see the doctor on monday for the results.

Then at 7pm last night the hospital rang me to say the bloods came back
And they are very high the fact that there was nothing in the womb is giving them an ink-link that its ectopic pregnancy, they said if i get a pain to go straight to the hospital or if im worried about anything just call them.

Needless to say i feel c**p that this could be happen to me again.
My dates is 6weeks there dates is 7weeks im wondering if its too small to see ,or maybe if i passed it would my hgc levels be high for afew weeks.
I really don't no what to think i just hope its not ectopic i really don't fancy having surgery.

Anyway i will keep you up dated and thankyou for thinking of me.

Hi Maryanne: So sorry to hear about this! But I have to say WHAT in heavnens name is the hospital thinking. An etopic pregnancy can be life threatening. Not go give you false hopw or anything like that, but is has been known that an embryo only need a blood source to be viable. Women who had partial hysterectomys have had full term babies, because the baby attached itself to another blood source. What REALLY concerns me about your case is this, obviously something is going on with you HCG levels, so having an etopic pregnancy is obviously goin on. But WHY didn't they do an ultrasound on your felopian tubes too? A lot of times they have to do surgery on your tubes, because if they burst - as the embryo grows, you can be in SERIOUS trouble. I will tell you another story to help you with this situation, another friend of mine had an etopic pregnancy and her tube burst. She was in a bad way. So they told her to be careful after the surgery because when your hormone levels are starting to rise, you can easily get pregnant. So of course - being a friend of mine especially ;-) - she didn't listen and 4 weeks later was pregnant. So an etopic is not the end OK? You just have to be careful. PLUS I have had several friends that have had miscarriages and still had full term pregnancies. So I do wish you health, and a fertility. But please contact them about what they are going to do about an etopic pregnancy? Because you don't want to leave it to chance OK? Best of luck and please keep me updated. Sincerely Bambi

Hi Bambi27
Thanks for your mail,i had a miss miscarriage last nov the fetus stopped growing at 6weeks but my hcg level were getting higher for a month so i reckon the fetus stopped at 6weeks but the bloods kept going up so they could'nt take any chances as it was telling them the pregency was still ongoing.i will ask them to do an ultresound on the tubes i didnt no that could be done.i had bloods done this morning they will ring me later to tell me what the levels are, would my hcg levels be still high if ive passed it do you know.i have no pain or soreness what so ever.im sure at 6or7weeks they'd see something in the womb would'nt they.im really all over the place i don't no what to be thinking.

Will chat to you soon.

They would totally see something at 6/7 weeks. It would be small of course but there would be an embryo! So What really distrubs me is that when they do an ultrasound they check everything - well are supposed too. I remember the technician even telling me what ovary I became pregnant from!!! On my 1st scan. Your HCG levels can stay high for quite some time actually. Depending on when or if you miscarried. It somewhat ticks me off to think that they keep testing your blood levels and not doing something more sucha as an ultrasound. If it is an etopic pregnancy, each day that goes by the embryo grows inside the tube. I don't want to frighten you Maryann, just want to enform you that I don't think they are doing their job correctly. If the embryo has not passed your body will not know that, so that is why the levels will be high. But they have already said that there is nothing in the uterus! Perhaps go to another site and have someone different do an ultrasound for you. I don't want to upset you or raise your hopes, but I know from personal experience you can have differnt readings on things. Have you watched the screen when they do an ultrasound!!! I haven't a clue how they can see anything at all. So have your doctor do up another req for an ultrasound, if you have misscarried, you need to know if everything is ok! And I'm sure you understand what I mean by that. There is one thing I have learnt through my MANY years of dealing with the medical industries is YOU are in charge, and Doctors are not God! So you have to be in charge! And if you think something is wrong or they are not doing something that you think you need. ASK for it. So get a second opinion/ultrasound. And please let me know OK? Good luck!

Hi bambi27

I had ectopic pregency removed on sunday afternoon.
Went into hospital on friday gyn doctor wanted to take me down on friday night to put a camera in to have alook as they didnt no were the pregency was,or i could wait till sat have a deeper scan and bloods done and wait to see if the bloods came down,if bloods come down alot it would be breaking down its self and they would keep an eye on me.i asked to wait till sat as didnt want to be opened twice as there was a chance they may not find it with the camera.they were happy enough to wait till sat as i had no signs of ectopic no pain no bleeding nothing but if i had got a pain i would of been done straight away.bloods didnt drop that much so i was done sunday afternoon.
They said i was very lucky i lost one of my tubes we are totally gutted needles to say but we are thinking on the other hand im lucky im still here .they say it may take me 6weeks to recover.
I dont think i will ever get over this and my husband doesnt ever want me to go true this again.
Anyway thats my sad story thankyou for lisen and the advise you gave me .
Maryann.

Dear Maryann: I am SO sorry for your loss honey. I really don't get why they did what they did. As far as I'm concerned there was NO need for you to loose a tube. just know this a miscarriag and an etopic are 2 TOTALLY different things. Don't blame yourself AT ALL> You can still get pregnant, but definitely wait 6 weeks for everything to heal, as I stated before my girlfriend didn't and WHAM she became pregnant - due to the hormones being high! I still don't get the fact that they wanted to do a laproscopy not an ultrasound!!!! But I know that you ahve been through the ringer. Just know - if you wanted to try again - that there is nothing stopping you from becoming pregnant. You would just have to try every other month that's all. Did the hospital offer you counselling for the loss of either? Because in many countries there is that too. I really feel for you hon! And I wish you NOTHING but health and blessings. And if you do get pregnant or decide to adopt, please let me know! God Bless Dawn
